Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

"tanks" here---
MAKING CHANGES TO A WILL IN WA ;
The Public Trustee has only now informed me that they no longer charge a % of the Estate.

They now have a Schedule of Charges pertaining to the work they do as Administrator and taking the matter to Probate.
An example of the Schedule of Charges is:
Prepare a new Will (or make changes to an existing Will) : $51.00 with a pensioner Discount. (otherwise; A lot more)
To act as Executor and take the matter through probate;
1 Bank account + 2 houses + 1 vehicle = $11,000 to $12,500.
2Bank accounts + 2 houses + 1 Vehicle = $12,400 TO $15000.
Probate can take up to four weeks.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Dot, as others have said, a fixed fee is no incentive to get the best price for you. I used to work in Real Estate - admin not sales, not sure how things have changed but when we sold last I asked the agent for a discount on the percentage and the reply was “if we can’t negotiate our percentage, how will we negotiate the best price for you?” Turned out they were right and we got a much higher price that another agent told us was unattainable. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
Cheers

Tanks I had a friend that had the public trustee and from his experience I won't touch them Your executor should be just fine following your wishes but better to have 2 of them.
Thanks Leslie, food for thought.
Deborah, Interesting never thought of it that way.
Have some numbers to crunch I think.
Tomorrow off to see the surgeon that did G's op and hoping for some answers. Reset the cat trap. Got the results of the boob squeeze and I am offended or they are, Told they are dense, I thought they were smart ones. :lol: But good results so happy titties. G was checking things in the bus, back inside tyre was beeping down on the tyre dog so a quick pump and all ok. Then he found a very small fuel leak to the diesel heater so that now fixed. Turned the bus around so the door is on the house side making it easier to put stuff in. Going to have a trial run for G.s cook off soon, that should be interesting to say the least :D Utter rubbish on tv, nothing at all worth the time watching, how many times can one watch the news or should I say sport. I hope your sales improve Deborah. Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Swisslulu x :D

Good luck with the surgeon Dot xxxx

Tanks, you may find that it's cheaper to make a will with a solicitor and appoint your own executors. It seems to me that the public trustee is not always working in your favour and you wont be around to check on them. A lot of banks have solicitors who do this for a reasonable fee.

Another quiet day in the lair. Our sparky came and replaced a damaged light fitting in our rental. That was quick and easy. Tenant is so grateful that we don't muck her around. If it's broke we fix it, full stop.

I was chatting with the young couple who bought my old kiln and mentioned that I am thinking of selling off some of my glass. They are very keen to buy it all, and I am happy to have a bit more space in my shed. It was glass that I bought from a deceased estate and it does not happily play with the glass of my choice. I had to keep it separate from my favourite stuff. The couple have chosen to work in this sort of glass because they can buy it locally to them. So win/win. I have packed up 5 largish boxes ready to take with us to Sydney this weekend. They live close to where our next event is happening, so we happily will deliver to the event for them to collect from our vehicle.

Food for thought

Tanks,
In the past month we have updated our wills, Power of Attorney & Medical PoA.

Our solicitor advised that we nominate a back-up Executor, in case the primary Executor karks it or is otherwise unable to carry out the duties.

He says the very LAST thing you want/need is for you to fall into the clutches of the Public Trustee!

Overcharging for everything appears to be their business plan.
Regards & God bless,
Ray

Dot, blame it on the gov, they can't get anything right these days xxxx

George, you are such a comedian. :lol: :lol: I am still waiting for my guys to get back to me with a quote for the replacement battery. I think they are procrastinating because I have asked them to research anything that is not lithium ie old school technology. When we are back home for a while, I will chase them up...Probably next week. I am a bit fed up and just over the whole thing. But when we had a bit of a lightning storm tonight, I was reminded to get back to them asap.

The van was packed up today, ready to head off to Western Sydney tomorrow. As it's school holidays, we don't expect a lot of traffic heading toward the suburbs, tomorrow will tell. I did the whole pack up the shed, making sure all power points are empty and there is nothing on the floor that could be damaged in a flood event. PITA, but it still has to be done. If Dubai can get flooding, I think it pays to be cautious here. The beast is still packed with the business from last weekend, so at least that was one less heavy lifting job.
