Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

We made it to the free camp at Yass, beside the footy oval, around 1:30pm, within Lesley travel times ..... but there are no laundromats in Yass   After a few possibilities, including camping in the Canberra show ground and a laundromat location established, rang my daughter ... whole household is down with Covid .... new plan required ......
Settled on a laundromat in Queanbeyan, located beside an Aldi .... what more could you ask for  Actually managed to get the motorhome and trailer parked on the street. Shopping complete, loaded that in the motorhome while Margaret performed the transfer from washing machine to dryer ballet, waited there with her and wheeled the dog in the shopping trolley ready for the transfer of the washing back to the motorhome ..... darkness has descended and it started raining/ice slurry falling from the sky ... freezing ... A quick decision was made to put the laundry in the Prius, I'd drive the rig down to the front of Aldi, and I'd follow Margaret to this great free camp near Bungendore ... barely got out of the street light area and the motorhome dash lights decide to call time ...... with the engine at the back, it is very difficult to determine engine rpm when climbing hills, or when travelling at 80km/h, a well known hit zone for the local highway patrol from both NSW and ACT police ..... ended up with a string of cars behind me near back to Canberra, and no sign of Margaret anywhere ... pull over to let them pass ....
Back on the road, hope I'm going the right way, Margaret rings and tells me approx where she is, about 5km further up the road but at least I'm on the correct road :D

As we crest a hill and start down the other side, the brake lights and right hand indicator light up on the Prius  A Prius stops and turns a lot quicker than a 9 tonne plus motorhome in the dark .... I didn't plough into the Prius, but it was a near thing .... the turn is off camber, the speed was a tad more than ideal .... remember I mentioned the shopping simply being loaded into the motorhome  Out of 12 x 1tr cartons on long life lactose free milk, I abruptly shorted the life of 6 of them .... the motorhome is now parked nose down, passenger side high, and a quantity of milk has run down hill and under the lounge ..... that is permanently fixed in position ... that is going to make itself known in few days  I'm not game to try and reverse the trailer in the dark to achieve enough room to make a U turn in the "camp spot" that hangs off the side of a hill .... so it looks like it will be a few glasses of port will be consumed before dinner
"It looked level on the wikki camps app, no one said it was mountain goat territory" .... "the app had reports the road was quite" it's the Kings highway out of Queanbeyan/Canberra, on a steep hill, of course it's going to be quite

Life is full of surprises....

Who would have thought that 6 litres of lactose milk would start smelling in 3 days during a Canberra winter? Not me.

Who would spend 3 days in Canberra weather if they didn't have to? Not me

Just to add to the fun and excitement, big gusts of wind roar up the hill and straight into the side of the motorhome, makes it look a bit like the Cheech & Chong van scene before they go on stage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8P3fEAtDg0

Believe it or not, there are two cars up here with I'm guessing homeless people living in them, surely you'd find some where warmer and quieter .....

Good morning everyone.
It's fun driving in the dark A Terry.
Didn't George just have the same sort of experience 🤔 in the dark.
Maybe we should start a thread on how we all travel?.
Another quiet day was had. I started the diesel heater and ran it for half an hour.... herself needed to know it worked...for next weekend.
Phone sez 7 outside...I seen 4 degrees yesterday morning.
Nothing planned for today I probably will put some clothing into the motorhome.
Keep safe and warm.
Bernie.

Good morning everyone. We are back home again, after our quick trip up to Hervey Bay. It's about 10° here now heading for 23, so the man says. No chance of though.
You'll need the heater up at Tbar Bernie. And lot's of warm clothes too. :D
T1, I reckon you will find a surprising amount of people living in their cars, who spend the night at roadside RA's.
I think they feel safer doing it like that.
It's going to be a bright sunny day here, so I'm off to walk the dog, before today's list appears.
Safe travels everybody, regardless of what time you get into your overnight spot.
Cheers
David

Monring all,

freezing cold here. Off to the docs to have a mark removed. Rang the surgery yesterday to confirm, but rang his mobile number by mistake. "Gday.... blah blah blah, yeah no worries, message me a photo so I can have a quick look prior. cut or freeze?"

btw, Nigel reckons Illawarra (again) is going to be windy (and all the way to the Vic border). Bring in your washing and roll up the awning.

Drove down to Bungendore, no where we could plug, so on to Braidwood. Camped up in the showground, finally got the rig level and plugged ..... a woman pulls up in her Torak tractor and says we can't stay here :? They? determined it was too wet and closed the showgrounds ...... there are a few other caravans and vehicle parked a bit higher up mind you, "didn't you see the signs"? There were no signs, in the next breath, there is a 4 day horse event on and they need to get the area dried out before tomorrow .... good luck with that ......
So I stayed where we were till the battery recharged, fortunately, not too long with lithium batteries, I had a walk around, parts were still running streams, checked the gates, now closed with showground closed notices cable tied on ..... yeah, sure, she just wanted it emptied for her horsey event ...... Lot of Wikki camps searches, every where was no dogs, decided we would venture up the Nerriga rd in the Prius and see what condition it was in ...... on a "hail Mary" rang the local ex services club to ask if the Coco stayed in the motorhome, could we use their free camp .... yeah, no worries, he's fine on a lead ..... so here we are :D and parked up by 3pm, not quite early enough for Lesley, but still daylight.
Gunna head in shortly for dinner and a drink or three to do the right thing by them for the use of the free camp spot, and try the Nerriga Rd tomorrow
