In the top right hand corner, watch the battery symbol and see if it changes as the glow plug heats up. Across the bottom of the heater image is a stepped graph, it will only fire up once the second green bar lights up, it won't even start the pump until it senses the igniter is hot enough.
For the $30 a replacement igniter will cost, I'd try that is a loose connector or severe voltage drop can't be sorted. Even though the book says it will fire up at 9v, it won't, it needs to be better than 12.6v at the igniter while it's powered up if the incoming air is below 10*C .... just like a diesel engine, the diesel droplets won't ignite if the air is too cold, so the heater won't even try until it senses the heat in the combustion area is hot enough to light up the second bar on the graph .....
Another thought, have you drained the heater tank and put straight kero in it and tried a cold morning start up? You will need to run the heater the day before on neat kero to ensure it has flushed out all the old fuel ....

That comment was a joke chaps.
Really though at present we have people in a houseboat that is spending $35 grand on solar & that doesn't include the batteries.
In winter like now it still won't keep up without a gennie or shore power unless they go to bed with the chooks.

Thanks for all the comments.
"it won't even start the pump until it senses the igniter is hot enough." the pump does start as many as 30 pumps that I can here...then goes click and starts the shut down procedure. It's hard to see as they didn't put an off switch inline the control led's are faded
I don't think its because of the cold, had it working this time a year ago in Morven, a lot colder than here, plus they are made for the cold weather.
That voltage drop from the batteries to the heater I recon is the problem, that's why I put larger cable in earlier this week. I did run the fridge to get the batteries down to simulate what was happening at the Rodeo last weekend, but had turned it off yesterday arvo.
I want to run a cable from the start batteries to the heater...but at the moment I have no spare cable. And the only place I can get any is the RACQ depot in Biggenden...BUT they don't have any
The gennie was in the Winnebago Bruce not this one.

Re: Good morning daily
Bernie,
Can you use all the wire that came out of the old ride on mower? Just wire it in parallel.
Also, Nigel reckons it's going to get even colder this week-end, so better get it going.
12.8v Is that with the glow plug on or off?
Also, have you cleaned the furnace air filter?

The start battery is 24v isn't it Bernie?BernieQ2 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 3:17 pm Thanks for all the comments.

Bernie.
With the heater under load on first start up first thing in the morning, what voltage is it at the heater and does it hold that voltage or does it gradually fall?
Is the Victron accurate or the multi-meter? If the multi-meter is reading 1.2v high, then the heater is only seeing 11.6v. Why is the battery dropping to 13.04v with only the fridge running over night? I'd be worried if my 12v lithium battery dropped that low over night if it was only powering a fridge, what voltage does the Victron read when the amps stop flowing into the battery? And again, 10 mins after?

Re: Good morning daily
Evening all, Bernie, either get a new heater or put the genny back in. We had a spot of bother with our diesel heater, it would not start but we turned the genny on then the diesel heater and away it went (genny off).

Hard to wear a jumper when running around nudie in the MH.Bernie, throw it away, buy a jumper and an electric blanket.
