Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Have a top day everybody. Safe travels
I would agree with you living in maniac land, but here you're lucky to see a car or truck on the road at certain times and since the chinese stopped coming, during winter there's no one on the roads. Especially a lovely coastal road which has never ending bends drops, rises and more bends. Rode it yesterday to test the bike out before rego, down here we can get a 28 day rego for moving unregistered vehicles, bikes and trailers for $50. It has restrictions, you can't go for long rides and supposedly can only use it for taking it for repairs, inspections and testing. When I got the permit last week, explained to the lady at Service Tas that the closet test station was 75klms from me, so she set the distance able to travel from home at 100klms and said, that should give you enough distance to test it out, with a big smile on her face.

Yesterday was a lovely warm day for winter, (14deg) and had to bake the flame proof paint on the exhausts, the cost of re-chroming them was horrendous, so panelled all the scratches and dents out and gave them 2 coats of VHT flame proof primer, 5 coats VHT flame proof black, then put 3 coats of VHT flame proof clear. To cure the paint you need to bring the exhaust to 300deg for 10 mins, let it cool and then bring it to 600 for 10 minutes, let it cool then bring them to 600 for 20 minutes. So visited a band member about 10klms away, had to 10 minute chat as he was working on his bus, visited our ex singer who lives 35klms from me and helped her partner in his workshop restoring a 1965 anniversary model customline ex cop car for half an hour. Then headed for the coast road via the highway, which is also a lovely winding road with straight stretches of about 1klm.

The coastal ride coming back was a dream, been looking forward to taking the bike on that road since I got it and it was a real cruise. Never owned a big cruiser before and now know why they called it a VTX, (V twin extreme), It's certainly extreme with 100hp and frightening torque, wrapped in on once and nearly threw me off the back, so took it carefully from that point and slowly put on the power until feel I can do head stands on it at 100kph, then watch out.  :D

 I had a 25km ride each way from the far western reaches behind Liverpool, to the back of Homebush Abattoirs to the trucking company I worked for at the time.
If I rode the Honda 100, I could scoot up between the traffic in the built up areas, but had to really watch out on round abouts etc because cars would simply pull out in front of me. When I rode the Goldwing 1000 the weaving through the stationary traffic was harder, but the cars would think twice about jumping out in front of me
If I still had the 750 Norton Commando, I would have had the best of both worlds, handled like it was on rails and went like the wind ...... a higher top speed than the Gold Wing ... just, but easier to get through the bends because they tighten up real quick up around the 200 clicks mark, the Norton scrapped the fold up foot pegs I fitted of a Honda 500, while the Goldwing drifted across the road with the white line passing under the bike rather than the feeling you were changing lanes ... went from the white line on the inside of the two lane bitumen travelling up the Heathcote toll road (at the time) and exited a corner, I hadn't really noticed as a bend before, just clipping the outside white line .... and decided at that point maybe I wanted to live a few more yrs, so eased off it ... felt like I'd slowed down for ages, lifted the head from between the instruments to look at the speedo and the wind caught under my full face helmet and near tore my head off ....

Good morning 10c prediction 19c, I’m off for a roll up this morning westerly wind across the lake so I had better rug up, we play Halekulani next Tuesday for our annual shield game.

Think I’ve mentioned before my first date with Bruce was on the back of a Triumph Bonaville, it was my first time on a motor bike I can still remember at first being a little scared but really enjoying it once i started leaning with him.  wow that was 61 years ago. :o
Bruce still has a motor bike licence but hasn’t ridden for over 30 years.
Friend at bowls is up in rural Brisbane suburb, her son in law was riding to work on 2 lane road early morning in thick fog, truck coming opposite direction, car comes out to overtake he flashes his light but it continues he swerves to the left as the car collides, he was left with femur poking out of his leg, smashed ankle, broken elbow, head abrasions luckily his helmet save his head, he s in his thirties 2 young kids Annette doesn’t know when she will be able to come home.
Shirley & Bruce.

 Not the Heathcote Road Bernie, the express rd from The top of Bulli Pass to Waterfall was originally a toll road.

School holidays. Off to the dentist for the boys check up. Lucky they're still under our health insurance.

Bernie, is it Carol's bingo day or yours?

Terry, When I saw the bus at Taggerty, I thought it had new tubeless wheels and tyres fitted.

It does, just the tyres were on someone's shelf for 15 yrs. The whole case has given way to cracks in the inner sidewalls and the left front is starting to bulge in the centre line of the tread with cracks appearing through the almost brand new tread depth.
Being tubeless, there isn't a lot between a crack/bulge outside to breaking through to the inside of the case, instant flat tyre and with the sidewalls already failing, virtually an instant tyre shred event .... kind nasty on the front, from a full tread tyre to a steel rim in one go
