Terry does that alternator have an inbuilt regulator or external one like the early civilians?
If external is it 3 wire or 5?

Good question, very well asked I might add 
There is a plug with a number of wires so I'm guessing it's an external regulator. As to it's where it's located, no idea yet. Everything has that neat coating of diesel oil over it so a major removal of seats etc is required to investigate further. I've become rather proficient at getting the drivers seat out and back in, it's a requirement for fan belt replacement.
