You could always use the heat from the motor cooling system with a heat exchanger system and then a solar booster when the battery bank is full.
If there's enough room underneath make a separate false floor with a series of openings/vents to let the heat up into the living space.
Heat it with an 8Kw diesel heater blowing into the open space and sucking the return air out from above, easy enough to fit a 20ltr tank for a week's flat-out running, that way you would not have to worry about ducting the heat around the MH.
I have seen it done on a bus conversion some time ago and it worked very well for them.

Re: Good morning daily
In the Fuso, the 10 ltr tank lasted 3 days when it was real cold, I could pump out of the vehicle tank and add the ltr of kero to get another 3 days continuous .... but generally, the real cold snap had passed before then.
If this engine repair sorts the high LPG consumption, we should be able to around 1500kms with the petrol and LPG tanks full, hopefully, that should be at least 2 weeks travelling once we settle into retired travelling mode, maybe even a mth.
Filling up at 3 different bowsers can be a real pain .... haven't had to do it yet, but looking at the fuel stations where we could buy LPG, only the petrol bowser is close, but the filler is on the opposite side to the LPG. If I can fill up both the petrol and diesel tank up without having to reposition the motorhome, that would work out well, having to only fill the diesel tank each mth through winter will work out well ......

Re: Good morning daily
The roof has a false ceiling with ducting throughout the motorhome, if I can figure out a way to add a hydronics system so the fan only mode blew warm air throughout the motorhome, that would probably be the best combination ....Noggins wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 6:34 pm You could always use the heat from the motor cooling system with a heat exchanger system and then a solar booster when the battery bank is full.

Simply turning the air con to heat would be the easiest method, maybe using the MG4 as a "toad," the extra battery capacity could be used via a V2L through the Victron inverter over night and topped back up during the day from the solar. Using the engine heat via a heat exchanger only works if you plan to drive each day .... we have found spots while travelling we would have like to spend a week or more, but in the past, our busy schedule didn't allow such luxuries .... we are hoping that will all change this time when we hit the road .... time will tell ....

Re: Good morning daily
I'm going to assume that your Winny has a Coleman roof rattler, same as ours. It works but is nowhere as efficient as the new inverter type similar to the one Bernie just retro fitted to his Hino.
You just need to get the biggest one, it suits a 7.5 metre vehicle. I'm also going to assume that yours has a door that isolates the bedroom from the main part of the house, similar to ours. Open or close a couple of ducts and send the heat or the cool where you want.
You could get all that sorted when you do the solar upgrade.
No need for a diesel heater now. Spend the savings on more solar panels.

Morning all.
Bit windy this morning... but not to cyclonic.
Bernie, did it rain at your place? Nigel is trying, but he reckons you're in some sort of shadow. Do you wear a tin hat or something?

Good morning All. 9* at the moment but 21* forecast.
I managed to do a little work on the damaged MH door. The replacement door has been made suitable but now have to do some work on the damaged support frame.

Re: Good morning daily
Good morning everyone, its a bright sunny morning here on the Gold Coast. No rain here either. There was 80mm in the gauge, but we've been away for more than two months.
I spent more than half of yesty grubbing out bindii , the front yard is almost a dustbowl now. The wind hasn't done the garden any favours.
I'll put the Winny in the yard after I mow what's left of the lawn. Then I'm off for another CT scan.
Bandit seemed pretty happy to be home. It looked like he enjoyed the walk yesty morn.
Safe travels everybody, have a top day.
How is your hand George? Any long term damage?
