Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Is this his business Jon? https://www.sageparts.com/wp-content/up ... -Valve.pdf Sounds about right, Nigel would be considered a Sage wouldn't he? https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dicti ... e_vignette

Nigel is a shonk. A really bad art dealer from Nigeria. Anything he is involved in is rubbish, especially weather forecasting.
How much was that American V10?
I couldn't get that page to open.
And, you don't really need a big compressor. Just enough for blowing down and parts cleaning.

It's a pdf, so you need Acrobat to open them straight from the site, but if you save it as a pdf, generally the newer operating systems have something that will read it.
Looking through to specs, the say they install OE valves, I'd want Stellite exhaust valves and seats fitted.
Here is a You Tube about measuring valve stem height https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upqVeTrr0Ic

Jon, even sleepy Joe knows its gunna be a big storm. Worst in 100 years. Don't need to be to clever to work that out. I hope that the residents are moving out of the expected hit zone already. The storm surge will impact far more than you could imagine.

Terry, I haven't tried to open that site on the 'puter, just the phone. I just wondered how much a V10 crate motor would cost compared to a V8 big block. I think the easiest way to measure valve heights is with a straight edge and a ruler. They're not canted valves or anything trick are they.

Have you done a work cost analysis of fitting the Lexus Hybrid yet? Do the output curves and shaft speeds line up or would you need to do a diff ratio change as well?

I haven't priced a crate Ford Triton V10 20 valve because of the cost of returning this engine or paying the core deposit.
No point in looking at a 30v V10, everything is different, including the ECU .... and they have serious spark plug stuck in the head or snapped off issues because of that extra long bit after the threaded part .... and they are known to drop valves.
Can't use a straight edge, the cam journals are centre between each cyl intake and exhaust valve, so the tube over the valve spring with a dial gauge on top is about the only real option ..... at well over AUD$700 plus freight for a set I'd use once, if needed, I'll make one ;)

As far as fitting the V6 and hybrid transmission .... still at the thought stage .... I'd probably reposition the 4 sp auto in there at the moment further back and drive into the torque converter from the hybrid output shaft.
The reasoning is, the transmission was built to handle the torque required to move the 10 tonne lump, the diff ratio gives me 100km/h @ 2750rpm in over drive, so that will be fine, the hybrid transmission develops its full torque at not much over zero rpm, yet to calculate the upper rpm output because that is battery voltage dependent, but the V10 revs to 5,500rpm, I doubt I'd ever need to spin the hybrid transmission that hard.

If I upgrade the torque converter to the heavy duty 3 plate lock up clutch and adding the switchable converter lock up, popular with the 4 X 4 crowd that use these gearboxes because they are so strong, I could utilise the full regen capabilities as a bonus, just let the converter do its thing on initial take off, maybe even leave it spinning slowly while stopped to drive the oil pump ......

Morning everyone.
We got 24 mm out of the storm yesterday arvo 😁
Busy day coming up, Carol has to go to local hospital to have her knee measured...then off to maryborough for her hearing test...I'm also having the car's wheels rotated and wheel alignment done.
Just some gardening and stuff yesterday... Carol finished one part of the garden edging she's doing...
Keep safe.
Bernie.

Good morning everyone, its been a bit wet and windy on the coast. There has been heavy hail and flash flooding but luckily for us, not in our immediate area. I'll check the gauge when the current shower passes.
We spent most of yesty emptying all the cupboards and shelves in the Winny. It's going to get cocky and ant bombed sometime today.
Have a top day everybody, safe travels.
Edit. 54mm in the gauge since 9.am yesty.
Cheers
