On going joint replacement.

Post by RobertNotBob »

Have not done a report on my hip joint replacement as I started to have problems with my right knee after I came out of hospital and started the hip exercises.

Had both my knees replaced in Brisbane 2011, a week and a half ago it was so painful that we organised and appointment with my surgeon at his clinic in Nth Haven. Murder of a drive, but he gave me a referral for a dye induced CT scan and Xrays. Scan were organised for the next day.

Saw him today for my hip review and the good news that is going well, the bad news is my knee replacement joint is coming away from the bone so needs to be redone. Booked in for the 28/1/25 and not the welcome to the new year I wanted.

As long as it stops the on going pain I will put up with the pain from the operation.

Best to every one cheers Robert

Not good news Robert, at least when you have the knee replaced hopefully all the pain will eventually subside, sorry that you have to wait so long for it to be done.

I feel your pain, Robert!
Went through the same thing with my R Femur.
The titanium rod inserted in Perth wasn’t thick enough to immobilise the bone and allow it to knit.
Replacing it was the same pain and rehab all over again!
😢
I’ll be thinking of you as you go under the knife… AGAIN!

I can't think of anything worse than the pain of metal being pulled through bone, I was close to blacking out with the pain when the surgeon twisted and dragged on the bent wires that were used to pin the bones to each other in my hand ...... If he'd replaced the cast after cutting it in half at the 2 week mark, slipping over on the wet mossy path while trying to take the workshop shepherd guard dog back to his kennel, wouldn't have bent the pins like it did when I put the hand out to break my fall .... I thought that was painful, but not as bad as having them dragged back through the bone after it had tried to reset.

I hope this next op goes well for you and you get the leg pains under control, nothing seems to ease the pain when it's in the bone itself and every slight temp change just stirs it up even worse ....

Our thoughts are with you Robert

That's why chiros ask if you've had a joint replaced before they pull on your toes.

"Yes it does happen" was the reply when I asked the obvious question.

Long story short,
Knee operation on the 28/01 went well

Fall on the 30/01 was not planned.

Released on 02/02

Following few days swelling and pain increased and could not bend my knee to get into any of the 3 cars we could use to go to appointment for wound inspection. Arrangement made for nurses to come around Friday for new dressing.

Friday 07/02 nurses cleaned wound, removed vacuum dressing and replaced with the honey com dressing.

Instructed if continued to bleed, heavy swell and pain then go to ED Ashworth

Sunday 09/02 all of the above hit in so called ambulance and headed tho Ashworth hospital. Doctors spoke to my surgeon and he had me booked in and will talk to me about going back in and giving the knee a good flush out.

So I await the morn and we will see. Have a great day folks cheers Robert

You're not having much luck Robert. I hope your surgeon can get the knee cleaned up so you can do your rehab and get yourself back on track.
Cheers
