Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Morning all,

Shirley, probably a steady 8-9%. I was rolling down in 4th which tops out at 50ks at 2400.
Today, finishing replacing the BMS with the new Daly. 300a continuous, with active balancer. Plus some tidying up.

Now, this photo is really weird. It's upside down which sort of makes it look right....

hehe .... Love the battery pack! Now I'm not sure if I should 'fix' it or not? Looks ok both ways.
Bet you grit your teeth when you connect the last wire? Nah, it'll be good!
Often wondered if it might be better to drain a little from the high ones than to feed more into the low ones?
I fiddled around years ago with a sensor, thru a relay to a 100w headlight globe on each cell. It did work but decided there were just too many things that could go wrong. Ended up just swapping the low cell with the highest. Always seemed to be 2 positions in the bank that dropped lower.
Probably why so many went to 12v drop ins with inbuilt BMS. What you can't see you don't know!!

Good video Jon, try watching at 1.5x speed, that is some neat cornering skills ;)
A cooler day today, but the wind is a bit stronger. Managed to put the front drivers side awning back in, wind against the back one is a bit much at te moment, s I tried my best to tie it down so it won't flap as much.

Started untying the Vetrix electric scooter for the truck ..... I' thinking I'll need next doors forklift to get it off, it took 3 of us to get it up there and into position to tie against the loading ramps, one of me is not going to get it back off again without significant damage.

Good morning everyone. It's a lovely bright sunny morning here by the lake if you can stay out of the wind. There is a bitterly cold south west wind blowing today.
The MiL is over at Albury this morning for medical procedure. We'll head over and pick her up shortly I hope.
Did do much to report yesty.
How did the BMS go Jon?
How are you fairing NC George, on the mend?
Have a top day everybody, safe travels.
Cheers

Interesting day yesterday, another bug wind early on and then 24deg, by 1600 it started to rain and temp dropped to 14, been raining off an on since, this morning windy but not bad and 12deg outside.

Had to make a new mudguard for the big trailer, had a blow out and it tore the mudguard off and trashed the light wiring. The side car has arrived in Hobart and have to pick it up, was going to cost over $400 extra to get it delivered here, so decided TNT depot in Hobart was much cheaper as only cost me around $2 in diesel and the drive. But taking the wave ski and will see if can catch a wave on the way home.

Have a lovely day everyone

Hi Jon

Have no experience with the Daly products, have they replied re firmware update to your old one ? or is it some sneaky "built in obsolescence" move

Eddy,

I had some interesting issues recently, which I believe was traced to the BMS. Long story - short. I contacted Daly and got an incorrect firmware version which 'killed' it. They couldn't provide me with a working version. I eventually found a copy and installed it. Yet, the intermittent issues sort of continued. - which seamed to be some random disconnects.

Anyway, I've always wanted to upgrade the current capacity (old 150A, new 300A) becuase I occasionally exceed 150A. Which gave me some justification to replace it.

As a cautionary note, I'd be very cautious about upgrading Daly firmware in the future. Their customer support and firmware availability is useless. It really impacts their product and company reputation.

Jon, are they still using capacitors for balancing, or have they upped their game and gone to induction coils?
