Nostalgia maybe, wanting to live back in the olden days
They're living in la la land thinking climate change is only temporary and won't effect them. Have friends who decided to move to the gold coast area a few year ago, told them they would regret it as climate change ramped up, but they laughed and moved. Now they are complaining as they've been flooded out twice, battling their insurance company and spent huge amounts of money renovating after each flood. They been told after each flood by the authorities and local politicians it's only a once in 1000 years event, but it's become rather regular. Now they can't sell their house as it's now in declared flood zone and no on wants it, the lands slipped, drive way washed away and the house is becoming uninhabitable. So they've lost their life savings, house, a couple of cars, lots of other stuff and stuck in a disaster zone.

Not sure, have to ask the drummer, she's in contact with them I just get it second hand. Used to play with the bloke way back for awhile.
Well, got that wrong. It was more than 20 years ago they moved, but not to the gold coast but near Lismore I'm now told. It was another drummer that moved to the gold coast near Paradise point and haven't heard from them since the we met up at the Wangaratta jazz and blues festival a few years ago.
There are areas in every city in every state that have the same issues. There should be a system that allows the people who bought property in these areas to sue both the councillor/s council management, who allowed these areas to be rezoned .... and the developer who applied to have the area rezoned ...... that would put an end to all this nonsense .....supersparky wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 10:53 am Some of those low lying areas around Lismore have been flooding on a semi regular basis for years. I really don't know how the local shire allowed the houses to be built there. Those new to the district are getting ripped off.
