Shirley, I luckily didn't have the heart attack. It was picked up from a visit to the ED and a referral to a cardio. However, yes, I've eaten reasonably healthily all my life.... so there you go... good food doesn't necessarily equate to problem free.maybe you survived the heart attack because of your healthy food diet

It's a bit like taking statins to reduce cholesterol. The medicos all raved about them years back and put anyone with high cholesterol on them. The latest research shows that if your genetic inheritance says you are gunna have high cholesterol then so be it. Taking statins won't change a thing. Just don't eat too much junk food and try to eat a little bit healthy.
Cheers

Are platelets sort of like hors d oeuvres or canapés? I'm all for keeping the count of those as high as possible,Greynomad wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 2:06 pm Yes, next Tuesday.
My platelet count was so low last week that my oncologist thought treatment would be too risky.
Blood test on Monday to determine if it goes ahead Tuesday.
Last week’s test showed the count was low, but on the way back up. Just not high enough.
For the moment, despite the hot weather, tonic water is off the menu. Quinine destroys platelets.
So it’s Bundaberg Ginger Beer… or maybe just delete the first two words.![]()

Geez T1, I'm glad you're not a Haemotologist or an Oncologist.

Cheers

Dottie,
Never smoked. At all. Ever.
No desire to start, either.

Re: WAS CRAPPY news NOW GOOD news Re. Ray aka Greynomads thread
Treatment #2 last Tuesday.
All went well, no reaction, no side effects… until we were unpacking the shopping we did on the way home.
After unloading the polystyrene chilly box, I picked up the freezer bricks to return them to the freezer and had a tingling sensation in my finger tips. I had been warned that there was a possibility of some reaction to extreme cold.
As soon as I released my grip the sensation stopped.
Yet I can eat an ice cream without any problems!
No wukkas!
Today the District Nurse comes to disconnect me from the little pressurised bottle delivering the supplementary meds over three days. After the first treatment we had to drive the 100km round trip back to Albury for the disconnect, as it was over the NYE holiday break and District Nurses were on a break.
Then 24hrs after THAT I have to inject myself with more meds!
Complicated routine which I have to write down to do it in sequence.
I might be familiar with it by about #4~5…

Treatment #3 went well last Tuesday.
Oncologist said after #6 he’ll request another PET scan to see what’s happening.
Nothing further to report.
ps.
Could people PLEASE stop wandering off topic with their own opinions/problems/comments! Particularly long, rambling dissertations on esoteric topics and/or treatments.
Dottie started this thread to keep people posted on my treatment and progress.
Try to keep it like that.
Thanks.
