Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

In which category "Best intensions" ? That offering would even get a mention in the Kombi "Rat Class" where the aim is to look like it was straight from the days it worked for a living ...... I see why you chose the billy cart as the highlight photo ......

God help us if a fire ever starts today.
42 degrees & gusts to 50km/hr.
If a fire starts I suggest firefighters just head to the pub.
Similar conditions a few years ago near Lucindale it was spot fires starting up to 30km ahead.
Wind started in the East but now almost North.
Stay away from the block Jon.

Good afternoon All 32* here just now.

I survived the left eye cataract surgery which was performed last Tuesday and am now looking forward to the same for the right eye tomorrow.

In the next couple of weeks I will be able to have my heavy vehicle medical which include an eyesight test and hopefully will be able to drive without glasses. Last year the GP that carried out the tests ticked the wrong box which meant that I couln't drive without glasses.

I shall then be looking forward to March 11 when we head off to the UK for 6 weeks during which time we will catch up with our daughter, Leonie. On our return I will be looking forward to the next Taggerty visit.

Go the humpy. Had a few of them back in the day, some looked better, others maybe not. Most went pretty good, some even stopped.
Someone has spent a lot of time making that one look that bad. Level door handles and no sag through the the door frame means a lot of work done.
Cheers

The boy's primary school was a little free range until the principle retired.

They used to have yearly Billy Cart trials down the back hill. What a turn out, families, the local copper with a radar, dogs and a BBQ.

Of course, everyone had to be engineered. Lucas's had a BA steering wheel with no air bag. Josh claimed the HT steering wheel.

I think the worst was a broken leg one year.

Billy cart's were the way to go when I was a tad younger
Best and fastest one I built was with just ball-bearings for wheels... small at the front larger at the back.
Timber axles 😁 shaved down to fit the bearings and a nail to hold them on...We used to go down the ramp at the train station...it was a U shape... Was fun till the station master chased us off...no bloody sense of adventure 😛😛.... those were the days...we made one's with proper pram wheels...but they couldn't take the turn midway down the ramp...but fast in a straight line..

The memories of being a kid, back in the day. It was mostly fun and not too many got hurt.  :D
I'm not sure that too many kids of the current generation will ever get the same sense of fun and enjoyment that we did.

We had a steep down hill to a flat second and a turn around at the bottom. The test among the local kid engineers was to build a billy cart that could go from the top of the hill and still be fast enough to get the full circle of the round about bit at the bottom. The problem was sufficient high speed stability at the bottom of the steep down hill part to maintain a straight line run down the flat bit to the turn around .... there were some horrific accidents involving the ambulance, knee caps torn out, broken wrists and dislocated fingers and thumbs .... any thing less than that was a wash off under the hose so mum didn't see and back into the action

Motorised billy carts was the next natural progression and the challenge progressed to how far back up the hill you could get.... anything from the lawn mower motor driving on top of the wheel/tyre to a belt drive from the motor to the right hand wheel (mine) ..... a 1/4" pulley to a 6" pulley .... it would shred lawn mower wheels by the end of each day .... so I made a solid axle so both rear wheels drove ... learnt all about fixed axles and turning sharp corners .... straight up the driveway at the end of the street, through their pine trees and into the lane that went up the side of the newly built freeway .... the cyclone fence stopped me trying to do an Evel Knievel jump across the cutting and all 4 lanes of the freeway
Mini bikes built out of modified push bikes was the next progression, motorised billy carts were just a tad too dangerous

Good morning folks.
This weather still getting to the mid +30 s so nothing done once lunch time comes...
I did mow both front and back lawns... mainly to mulch the leaves that landed in our place...
Still haven't removed the drum from the axle, might have a quick look at it today.
I'm hoping that I can withdraw the money I need from the post office in Biggenden otherwise I will have to go to Childers, this is for the car trailer I have agreed to buy .
It's around 250 Ks from home... not looking forward to the drive...
Keep safe everyone.
Bernie.

Good morning everyone. Its a bright sunny day here already. We're going over to the ocean beach for a walk this morning. Might even have brunch in the cafe there.
We grew up with dirt roads, so no ball bearing wheels, just pram wheels and a few pedal car bits and pieces. Some of the earliest mini bikes that were about were very spartan. My first proper motorbike was a BSA Bantam.
Bernie, are you getting another Tilta or something else?
Schools are back today, up here, so take care on the roads everybody.
Cheers
