I really think the BoM should shift the local official weather station to somewhere within the town, rather than in a gully 6km out where the decommissioned research station is.
Yesterday’s OFFICIAL maximum temperature in “Rutherglen” (read: ‘country paddock’) was 39 degrees.
This was recorded on our back porch under shade:
This is not a one-off.
Our weather station consistently records temperatures 4~6 degrees higher than the forecast/reported max, and 3~6 degrees lower than the minimum.
One winter the BoM forecast an overnight temperature of +2*C. Next morning our weather station said it had dropped to -4*.
BTW, our back porch faces South, with nothing but an open paddock beyond.
Good morning daily

Re: Good morning daily
Ray, the weather software that I use shows a recording station near the corner of Barkly and High streets Rutherglen which shows the current temp at 25* with a high of 34* around 3pm.

Re: Good morning daily
Morning all, nice day today, smelt like rain last night but =0 so I am watering the gardens and lawn with tank water to give it a bit of a flush out. G slept in the chair last night, could not get comfy in bed. Gp ringing around noon so am going to ask that G has a steroid jab otherwise we may not be getting on that NZ plane. Keep safe everyone

Good morning/ Arvo
As I will be on the road before sparrow fart... I'll do tomorrow's now...
Bugga of a morning...had brekkie, Carol got up and had brekkie...I went out to the shed to start pulling the hub off the axle.... screeching noise was heard...twas Carol the water pump stopped being a water pump
So I went and fiddled with the non functioning pump
As I was going to Biggenden I went to Agtraders...old mate said bring the pump in... crap another trip back and forth
... took said pump in and it turned out that the electronic gizzmo on top had shit itself...he did show me how to bypass the gizzmo
... during this time I also went to the post office to withdraw money...
Then... I had to go to Childers to get another top gizzmo..
Then while putting it all working again...I broke a widget thingy

so another trip to Biggenden to get said part... under 4 bucks...
I did get the hub off the axle

Hopefully that's the end of upsets for the time being...
Keep safe.
Bernie.

Re: Good morning daily
Bernie did you rip one apart to grab a sample? I gues you have a parts manual anyway?
While you're out trippin' around tomorrow you might be able to grab two sets. (other side?)
I hate it when that happens because I hate mixing types/brands of brake fluid but how do you know what's already in it?
Do you know anyone with a shoe spreader? Those springs love fingers & create foul language!
My old Bedford cylinders were so pitted I sent them out to be SS sleeved.
Oh .... two posts..... two sides ..... well done!!

Bernie---The Post Office may limit the amount you can withdraw in cash daily.BernieQ2 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 6:09 am Good morning folks.
This weather still getting to the mid +30 s so nothing done once lunch time comes...
I did mow both front and back lawns... mainly to mulch the leaves that landed in our place...
Still haven't removed the drum from the axle, might have a quick look at it today.
I'm hoping that I can withdraw the money I need from the post office in Biggenden otherwise I will have to go to Childers, this is for the car trailer I have agreed to buy .
It's around 250 Ks from home... not looking forward to the drive...
Keep safe everyone.

Re: Good morning daily
Started unloading the welding bench and one of the tool boxes off the truck ....winch decided it was having no part of that, a few shunts back and forward in an attempt to drag it off, sortta worked, had a look in the winch controller, tried using the other contacts on the remote switch ...... nah, screw driver across the contacts, bingo.
Feeling very pleased with myself after getting it to the end of the ramps .... didn't look where I was going and stepped on a piece of timber with two nice big rusty nails sticking up .... straight through the Japanese safety boot and into the arch of the foot .... you know you did a good job when you have to use the thong to lever the nails out of the foot before you can get the thong off the nails.
Didn't start bleeding till I climbed into the truck to shut it down .... kinda made up for the slow start though.
Three layers of toilet paper and a length of sticky plaster to hold it in place, couldn't find the electrical tape .... and we headed off to pick up Bruce's trailer the he very generously lent us.
Brian came with us to assist loading the lounge at Hardly Normal, Margaret scared me a few times driving using the walking stick for slow speed driving in the carpark and left foot braking like she was pushing the clutch in .... so I drove home. It made getting the lounge into the bus kinda interesting ....
Looked up the symptoms for Tetanus, as I already have most of those symptoms ... it says a booster shot within 48 hrs will still work ... so I'm guessing that might be part of tomorrows schedule .....

You will do anything to get out of work won't you?
painful stuff those rusty nails. Yes go get the tetanus jab asap and stop picking on Margaret's driving or you could get a stomped on foot
