Hi. Still a lot of smoke around up here. Warm today but OK. Tomorrow is back to 41deg. Having airbags fitted to the MH tomorrow as it was a bit saggy in the back end. Put it off for a long time but it was starting to damage the inner wheel arch. Goodnight All.0.jpg

I was thinking about adding airbags to the front of the Winnie to soften the ride, the Fuso was so soft and smooth it spoilt us when it comes to ride comfort.
The trick is, every air bag must have it's own supply valve ..... if you use one line to pump up both bags, on a hard corner, the air will move from the outside bag to the inside bag causing the body to lean the wrong way in the corner.

I love the smart control airbags out now that sense the body lean and pump up the outside bag and drop the pressure on the inner bag to create a lean into the corner ..... a lot of the big road train trailers are using this technique these days, that full size trailer on a dolly behind another full size trailer on the prime mover tends to wag the tail in tight corner that might have been taken a bit too quick .....
Pity help the person coming the other way when these trailers step out ..... Margaret and Brian nearly wore one a few days back on the corner onto Reedy Creek bridge .... it was fortunate that Margaret likes to use all the suspension upgrades and body stiffening in the Prius and take the bends at a frightening speed, she was just past the rear of the trailer as it came across the road .....

I wish our Winnie had proper air suspension, but we aren't that lucky. Ours has cattle truck front suspension. Way heavy on front axle from the factory, so they put airbags on the front. They should have just fixed the suspension and shifted the weight. Which they did 4 years after ours rolled off the line.

If anyone is wondering where Dot is, her computer thinks it has a virus.
So it's at the computer doctor. She doesn't know for how long. She also doesn't know how to access forums on her phone apparently.

Do the airbags soften the small bumps etc in the road Dave? Because the Winnie the front seats are over the wheels, every bump comes through the seat, the Fuso was forward control so the seats were well forward of the wheels, made cornering scary for Margaret until she got used to it, but the ride was smooth and soft, yet didn't wallow around ......

In the bus, the seat is directly above the drivers wheel, and it's an air suspension seat.

The seat softens the ride considerably, even with the 5 foot long springs.

Does that stop everything else in the front and probably the rest of the bus from bouncing around Jon?
The Winnie has a nasty habit of shifting the lounge towards the door, throwing cushions on the floor and rattling cupboard locks open so the contents can collect in the stairwell or dinette, or just simply rearranging stuff from the top shelf to the lower shelves so the whole lot attacks when the cupboard door is opened ... The Fuso only emptied the fridge contents if we forgot to put the locks on or the drawers slammed open or shut at the round abouts ......

Short answer is no. It's still bumpy, and stuff moves on the dash. At the end of the day, it's truck suspension.
The Winny that Ray had used a Chev chassis with wishbone suspension, that would be my choice. Nothing I've driven can compare with the torsion bar suspension that the Coasters use. If only they had a bit more power.

Man Bra Jon, please ..... do they do one for the next roll down as well? I've Googled "Keg Support" but none of the examples looked very comfortable ....
