Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Oh Bernie, try this;

Type in "LJXH Electric Heater Specialist" into the aliexpress search field.

That's not the point Jon. I know I can type in the search thingy... your linc should take me to what you want people to see.

Bus is going in for an alignment check after the Mundi trip back in August. Amazing how time flies.

This is the mob that makes cartridges.

Some people simply turn on the AC power/inverter to draw off excess solar.
Some install a cartridge and power directly from the battery when the SoC is adequate.

I have fitted a cartridge into a water column which thermal siphons when the SoC is high. About 400 w at 24v

Any idea how many watts it draws at what ever voltage you switch it on at Jon? Also, how do you stop it over heating the water?

yes, just apply ohms law.

28^2 / 380 = R

new P = new V^2 * R

Mine draws about 15 amps at 28v

Also, how do you stop it over heating the water
A simple thermostat mounted to the tank. It's in series with another an SoC monitor which controls the switching relay.

My mistake, I thought you had a 12v system not a 24v system. The basic maths comes out at 420w from a 400w rated element .... is is your element custom wound to handle the higher voltage?

At what level in the tank did you mount the thermostat?

Terry, I think the heat is getting to you. I mentioned earlier that they make elements.

They make elements and customize to your spec. (thread, type, size, voltage, power). I wanted 15amps or there abouts at 28v. Which is about my typical average solar capture on an average day. No point having a high power element if it's just going to flatten the battery.

Plus, I just need to 'trickle" the heat in. Any solar heating offsets gas usage.

Thermostat is mounted middle to top. 65* C. https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/4000130045408.html?

I get a long 38* hot shower from that. ;)

I originally installed a short 300w 24v element but it cooked itself. I went longer, lower power and the correct voltage. It's still going.

A mix of the heat and back pain and frustration with this Prius inverter coolant pump I think Jon. Fitted the pump out of the old ex taxi Prius, and it lasted for around 2 kms and then it blew the fuse. I disconnected the wiring to the pump, fitted yet another fuse and Margaret was able to drive it back home.
Now I need to find a new pump and get it here before by the end of next week at the latest, so I can install it and have a car for Margaret to drive me to Adelaide on 24th for the knife in the left eye cataract surgery.

I was toying with the idea of building an induction coil water heater using a similar idea you are using with the external pipe and thermo syphon water circulation ..... but the parts are here for me to reassemble the Suburban unit, so that one isn't going to happen
