Eddy, I can't say yet, what the CHiQ will need as a start current yet. Unless I can find a more suitable unit, the 202 litre unit is what I will fit to our Winny. The spec sheet doesnt specifically say inverter technology, just electronic control. The yearly usage and efficiency rating is very similar to those models that state 'inverter '. It has a 7 year compressor warranty, which supposedly only the inverter models have.
At present we leave the inverter running all the time, when on 240v the mains just act as a charger, and also run the roof rattler.
Our 3way has become frustrating unreliable. It's OK when flat and level but is pretty ordinary when we are mobile.
The secret seems to be how much height you have available, there are quite a few that fit the width and depth criteria. How high is your Dometic.
Cheers

Morning Eddie.
I have a change over switch, when on mains I switch it to 240v Mains power and I turn the inverter off. when on 12 v it's changed to the inverter . Which I only run when off grid.
I haven't tried it on a smaller inverter so I can't help there.
I don't run a battery charger... but I do have one. Well I will when my daughter returns it...
Bernie.
I see Dave is helping as well.

Morning Dave
Our Thetford is 1452 high according to manual
I need to wriggle it forward and get a tape in to see what actual wood opening is(on road at present - think I can find where measuring tape is stashed in van 😀)
Our previous van had a dometic which worked fine on the sloped driveway

Remember, you need 50mm clearance up each side and an open air exit at the top so heat doesn't get trapped. If the external vent is level with the top of the fridge cabinet opening, then that is ok, if it is below and there is no opening at the top to allow the heated air from the side panels to escape, the fridge will not work as well as you had hoped and use a lot more power than expected .....

Eddy try reversing the direction of your caravan in your driveway & report back.
I find if I park the MH with the back down hill it works well but not the other way around.

Our 3 way Dometic has had some sort of event. The freezer has been on - 14⁰ for a couple of months now , and the fridge on 4⁰. And everything was fine.
In preparation for our upcoming trip I took rolled off the ramps the other day and parked on the driveway how it usually is. Which is about 2" low at the rear. The freezer has gone to 0⁰ and the fridge to 3⁰. It usually is happy parked at that angle, but for some reason it's not happy. I've turned it off, to let everything settle, run it on gas, and put it back onto 240v. Nothing has changed. I've checked the temp senders, swapped them, changed batteries and nothing changes. The analog thermometers show the same temp as the electronic. It is, and always has been useless on 12v

I hate my fridge. Can't wait to get rid of it, after we complete our latest trip.
Cheers

Thanks for suggestion Bruce, I will have to try on the road somewhere as can’t do at home.

Dave I think your three way fridge has satisfied it’s number aim - to be finicky

If I keep going with replacement idea will start getting expensive as will probably replace 2xagm mounted outside with lithium drop ins, extra solar & possibly replacing the charging arrangements

For those of you who are familiar with latest Australian standards is replacing external mounted agm’s with drop in lithium okay, as the main criterion re gassing is satisfied because of external mounting?

Thanks
Sorry Bernie this has really hijacked this post

No Eddie you were still talking about your fridge, and auxiliaries, so all good we all learn from others.

Eddy, I'm laughing at finicky  . That's not what I've been calling our fridge for the past week or so.

The 3 way fridge works fine .... as long as it's perfectly level and the outside temp is low enough that a Coolgardie fridge would have done the job just fine  Not quite as good as an ice block type cooler cabinet, but better than sitting in the full sun, if it's some where between those two reference points, it's working as well as can be expected
