That seems to be the "Thing" here about Trump, and it does worry me a bit to see so many standing up to abuse something they actually know nothing about.

Well another successful launch & retieval of the stage 1 booster.
It's intersting that it takes longer for the barge to bring the booster back than it can once again get into position for the next arrival.
One barge is called "Please read the instructions" & another called "Of course I still love you".
Once again you can fast forward as you please.

I think that rocket 🚀 launch was incredible... they need more cameras...so you can see the curvature of the earth
It looked to be about 1 1/2 minutes to start to see it.
Thanks Bruce.

What is amazing to watch is the first stage travelling at 1,000km/h falling back to earth, but only 5 kms left till it hits the landing barge ..... I'm guessing the first time there were some very tight sphincter muscles hope that last rocket motor fired and they had the maths right
What is also interesting is the rate the fall slows as the atmosphere get denser by the 4 km high mark, the deceleration once that rocket motor fires is also something to watch, from only 2km up and travelling at 600km/h, it reduces to 0km/h in 18 secs ....

A top fuel dragster wipes off 500km/h a lot faster and in a lot shorter distance using only repackable parachutes  But then, the Top Fuel dragster doesn't weigh as much, but the negative G forces would still be enough to take your breathe away .... The fact that same Top fuel dragster accelerated to 500km/h in only 1,000ft using nothing but tyre traction on only two tyres ....

Sorry T1, can't help myself. You will never get an EV to accelerate that quickly. Just sayin'

Apologies to all that may be offended that I hijacked their thread

From SpaceX website/Facebook.
Yep, 7 was the one that disintergrated after booster seperation.
I think Adelaide DST it will be 9AM on Sat 1st March '25.

SpaceX has confirmed that Starship Flight 8 is to launch as soon as Friday, February 28th, pending regulatory approval. Several hardware and operational changes have been made to increase reliability of the upper stage. The launch window opens at 5:30 p.m. CST / 23:30 UTC.
During the flight test, Starship will deploy four Starlink simulators, similar in size to next-generation Starlink satellites, as the first exercise of a satellite deploy mission. The Starlink simulators will be on the same suborbital trajectory as Starship and are expected to demise upon entry. A relight of a single Raptor engine while in space is also planned.
The flight test includes several experiments focused on enabling Starship’s upper stage to return to the launch site. A significant number of tiles have been removed from Starship to stress-test vulnerable areas across the vehicle. Multiple metallic tile options, including one with active cooling, will test alternative materials for protecting Starship during reentry.
Starship’s reentry profile is designed to intentionally stress the structural limits of the upper stage’s rear flaps while at the point of maximum entry dynamic pressure. Finally, several radar sensors will once again be tested on the launch and catch tower’s chopsticks with the goal of increasing the accuracy when measuring distances between the chopsticks and a returning vehicle.

That booster rocket certainly is huge. It's not the sort of thing you would see every day.
After reading all the above post a couple of times, I would take a guess that they plan on testing to a point of failure certain things and possibly don't expect it to be a totally happy ending, this time.
Cheers

I vaguely recall a quote from some rocket scientist way back during the US/Russia space race:
“You only find the limits of possibility by exceeding them.”
I think that was when the Yanks were doing their rocket tests in the deserts of New Mexico America. 😉

Yes, Terry sometimes subscribes to this. Most recently, Trailer v MG.

Back to normal programing now. Starlinks and Satellites.
