Good morning All. 27* with 30* forecast. Very hi humidity.
I started some mowing once the grass dried, about 9:30 and stopped a little while ago because the battery died, thankfully.
I will get my son, Sean to finish it when the battery is recharged
I am definitely looking forward to our trip to the UK and the much cooler weather for 6 weeks.

Re: Good morning daily
Late good morning from me today.
I could only wish for a 30⁰ day George. It's heading for 37 today at Mulwala, its 36⁰ already. No clouds in sight, so no rain here. Just a few little bushfires.
Not much else to report.
Safe travels all those out and about.

Re: Good morning daily
I'd just be happy for the high temps to ease a bit during day so I get a bit done outside. No worries about the grass growing, or the weeds for that matter, over this way over summer, everything gets sunburnt, so the weeds with their big leaves and fast growing stalks and stems holding very little water, simply die, the grass puts up a desperate battle to at least hold some green so it can survive long enough for it to cool down a bit .... they get a few mths, then the frost knocks them around .... it requires a hardy lawn to grow in SA .... even the artificial turf has problems remaining green
Might get the ladder up on the sides of the Winnie to mark out suitable spots to mount the legs for the solar panel frame work ...... leave them long while I wash and paint the roof to act as a safety railing to keep me from falling off ...... or I could put the awning up on the right hand side so I have a safety net to roll down till I'm closer to the ground

Just to make you envious Terry, we are going down to the harbour's edge to buy some fish n chips or similar for tea and sit on the lawn in the shade while we eat them, should be around 25*.

The weather people are trying to tell us it's 25*C here at the moment, so, clearly, they have their gauge inside with the air con runningNewcastle George wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 4:11 pm Just to make you envious Terry, we are going down to the harbour's edge to buy some fish n chips or similar for tea and sit on the lawn in the shade while we eat them, should be around 25*.

I guess Fush n Chups would be sufficiently low fibre to pass are a Diverticulitis attack diet, so hope you enjoy your meal by the ocean

I've enjoying a whole grain low carb bread sandwich with sliced roast pork I cooked a few nights back, with the remainder of the apple sauce .... yum

Too hot in the sun to do anything on the drivers side, so I got myself seated by the battery compartment to attempt the wiring sorting ..... couldn't find the electrical tape, the sandwich was offered, so play has been abandoned for the day .... it's about nap time anyway

Hope the land of the long white cloud is being kind to Dot n George. xxxx
Terry, your kind of hot days are a breeze after the high humidity that we have been living through. It might be "only" 36degrees, but with 80% humidity it feels more like a sauna. Clothes have to be peeled off, even after a quick walk down the yard to my shed.
I have been battling a piece in the kiln. It was a sculpture that needed some repairs. The first night (so many nights I have lost track), it went to get hot and too much of the glass fell through the holes. That resulted in hammer therapy and a new start the next night. That firing was done a little bit too cool and most of the legs had not dropped. That takes us to last night, when I put it in with a tiny change in temps and speed and went off to bed. It was a hot night and the shed had a door left open for any cool breeze, but oh no. Not good enough for the temperamental kiln, it turned itself off and went on strike. After waking to a flashing kiln box that said too hot, I have not been friendly to it at all. As soon as the glass was cool enough for me to refire, I started it off again. Just been down to the shed now and the temp is down to 200 degrees, so I could turn the kiln off and let the glass cool down naturally, overnight. The sneak peak suggests that the legs are all down, but until it's a lot cooler, I won't really know what has happened on the back side of the piece.
The rest of the day was spent getting the business into the truck and some things ready to go in the van. All that is left for tomorrow, is to get our clothes into the cupboards. On Monday, we head off to the Central Highlands, where we expect to be able to use a blanket on the bed and get a good night's sleep. Just for our usual March trip up to Glen Innes and Armidale for a couple of really big events.

Re: Good morning daily
Good morning everyone. We went down to the Strathbogie Ranges yesty arvo for a mates 50th. There's a fire burning in the state forest down there that's keeping all the fire services well occupied. It only got to about 37⁰ where we were. This heat isn't fun anymore. Can't wait for the weather to get a bit milder.
We're off to another birthday today. Hopefully no fires near there.
Enjoy your bacon and egg Bernie.
I know Dot was having a lot of trouble with internet in NZ. They should be home soon.

Re: Good morning daily
Good morning All. 26* with 30* forecast.
We, Julie, Beth, Sean, young Arthur and I had a very pleasant time yesterday evening, sitting on the harbour wall with our fish n chips in the lovely sea breeze.
When we arrived home at 9:30 the aircon had kept the house cool, 22* and it remained on until bed time. It's on again already.

Re: Good morning daily
Ncle George is right. It was a stinker of a day again today. Air con was put on at 11am and that's just not something that we do often. Lucky there came a nice breeze around 6 and the air con had a rest. Just looking forward to some cooler nights and in three weeks on our return, it should be more like autumn.
The kiln sculpture looked pretty good, but instead of the usual rounded edges, the edges were quite spiky and sharp in places. I needed a fair bit of time with the dremel, to get the edges much smoother to make it safe for the general public to handle. I took it upstairs to give it a wash and as I gently placed the lump onto the workbench, I heard a ping. Expecting to find a leg had been cracked or dislodged, I was surprised to find that a tiny bubble on the base had exploded and it got it's revenge on me by ripping my palm and making a bloody mess. That bubble edge was smoothed out and now it should be safe for all to handle with care. That was the only bubble and I had to feel it!
The rest of the day was taken with getting the clothes and things into the van. It's all hooked up to the truck, so an early lift off is expected. We usually do this part of the trip to Glen Innes in two days, but he's taking it in three this time. Don't know if we will gain anything by it, but we will be taking longer breaks more often.
Talk to you from the Central Highlands soon.
