Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

G'day everyone. We had a very exciting day yesty. Drove the motorhome up to near Stanthorpe and got all set up in our friends yard. It was just on wine o'clock and I heard a bang then soon a much louder bang. Noticed a B double pulling up in a hurry on the hwy. Then we noticed one of the axle sets on the A trailer on fire.
It was only 100m from where we were parked up but luckily wind blowing away from us.
I grabbed an extinguisher and headed around to it in the Jimny.
Old mate Raj and his Chinese co driver had NFI how to even uncouple the brand new Scania prime mover. They were gunna just let it all burn. Fortunately one of the neighbours, a truckie, dropped the legs, uncoupled and moved the truck to a safe spot.
My attempts with the extinguisher and another blokes were futile.
It was burning fiercely when the fireys turned up.
And that was our excitement for the day.
Safe travels everybody.

Well done David and others. Another reason why (truck drivers and coach drivers)should know about the vehicles they are steering. I say steering because that's all some know how to do. Lovely day today but I am still very sore so no outside work for me for a few days.

I'm guessing neither of those truck drivers had a licence. Part of the test for the licence is uncoupling the trailer, drive in a circle and then reverse under the trailer and couple it up again, correctly connecting the electrics and brake hoses, testing that the coupling is locked in place by attempting to drive forward with the trailer brakes locked, then wind the legs up, check all the lights work, then dive forward till the testing officers tells you to park the rig. Fai any one of those steps or miss a step, including not parking correctly, the test is over before you even drive out of the yard and onto the road.

My guess would be a trailer brake rolled up on top of the S cam and the heat started the fire ..... a truck driver would have seen the signs regarding the S cam over rotation and stopped to wind the brake off and block the air line ...... How they got to be driving a B Double without even the skills to hold an articulated licence, requires serious investigation .......

Seriously? With all the new industrial manslaughter laws about, any company and manager would be crazy to that.

The "Bus from Hell" battery re-strapping has been done and dusted, total of 12 stripped thread holes out of 48 ..... always when the last few screws had to go in ..... take the plate back off and dome hex headed screws fitted from the cell side through the plate, then the strap anchored onto the plate using a nut on the threaded stud sticking though to outer face of the plate, then put it back together again ..... naturally the last 4 cell group stripped the threads on the same side in both plates ..... as the last screws were being tightened  but all's well that ends and seeing it drive out the gates was a most enjoyable feeling  Eat p the whole day though
