The new project list
Re: The new project list
This is the jack I used yesterday, horizontal to push the bench from the wall.

Re: The new project list
That looks like an original Holden bottle jack. Worth its weight in gold, kinda.
Cheers

Bernie. I see a project in that jack. Dismantle, clean and re-grease it.
It will work a lot better.

Thanks John, this one has been sitting in the various sheds since I've owned it..
The other is in one of the bins in the motorhome, it's a lot cleaner
. But when time comes available I will attend to it..
It's also handy to know I can use a ratchet on them...I hadn't thought of doing that till this kitchen re- do..the original handle would have been almost impossible to use without extra people involved.
Sometimes you have to sit down and think... something I'm not accustomed too

Re: The new project list
Those 3 stage wind up jacks and the scissor jack, both single and double lift, are wonders from an age gone by .... the Ford bumper bar jacks and Kombi wind up jacks, thankfully have gone with the past, they had a real bad habit of going over sideways at about the same time as the wheel was in the process of removal .......

Re: The new project list
I think they are a sealed unit. Not sure, but the bottom may be spot welded on. You could drill the welds out if that was the case. Otherwise, just open it out fully, wire brush it, clean and lightly grease it.
