Dot, I hope G has fun with his aldi vac. I think anything would be better than the old dyson that we had been using for quite a few years. They certainly lose their get up and go after a while.. You won't know yourself, sleeping in a bigger bed....get some quality sleep mate xxxx
Today was a frustrating day with waiting on the phone for well over 2 hours to get the chance to speak with the insurance claims manager. Finally she did give me some hope of the claims being fully paid. I had barely put the phone down from her and the assessor rang me with the information that they would pay for the wheel and tyre that we lost as well as they would pay for the drivers side tyre to be replaced. It would have had some damage, he said. So after that successful call, we are still waiting for the caravan mob to finish their part of the job.
Next phone call was to a caravan park where we had a booking for this weekend. I explained the situation and told them how much we would like to be with our jayco mates but no van, no go. The girl had to speak with her manager , so would get back to me. When she finally returned the call, she demanded proof that the van is stuffed and they will proceed once I show that we have a valid reason for not attending. After the smoke cleared, I did send them a photo of the van on the towtruck and another of the accounts for all of the parts that the mob claim are still coming. I am really peed off with that one.
I am looking forward to that warm bed tonight,
so nighty night xxx

Had to re-read that a few times Dottie, I was wondering why George was using it on his headDot wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 11:10 pm I was forced to move back into the house tonight as G took the bed sheets of the bus bed and took the loo cassette out and turned off and emptied the fridge so I really had no choice. The tile cleaner is coming next Monday and then all should be nice and clean and refreshed. Next will be the replacing of the shade cloth around the pergola as it is starting to show it;s age of 25yrs. No BOB's tonight rest day but the next week will be in the high mountains so will be good, We got some rain tonight but nothing to worry about. No worries about the stick vac Deborah, G got one from Aldi and as he is the one that uses it it is on his head but so far so good. I love my sloppy joes and tracky pants in this weather don't care what I look like .Did 4 loads of washing done and hung out under cover. Going to try out the new slow cooker with a stew hmmmm. Off to bed now, will I be able to sleep in the bed now after the bus bed? Brian is already curled up on his bed but will cuddle up with me when all the lights are offGoodnight everyone x
Goodnight Wimmera Jack x

We bought a Ozito brand vac from the hammer shop and the Dyson went to the rubbish bin. Have a few Ozito tools so plenty of batteries, Margaret thinks it does a good job and as I get the honours of emptying it each time, it certainly seems to collect a lot, right up until the hopper is full.
A cheap paint brush to sweep out all the dust that clings inside and to clean the two filters .... worth buying a spare of the white cloth type filter so one can be washed every so often

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
It was a rough windy rainy night last night , that M8 of jd's namely Nigel was spot on for a change. Had a good sleep back in the house bed, Brian stayed on the end of the bed snuggled up in my dressing gown. Wish summer would hurry up a bit. Too cold to do anything outside today and the fire is happily chugging along, BOB's back tonight and it will be great way up in the high mountains. Deborah if I was you I would be buying a tatts ticket when you get the van back. G is finding his new stick vac quite impressive, he uses it mainly in the sun room and kitchen and gets the big Dyson out for the bigger carpeted areas. Got a couple of ph calls one to NZ and that will be a good couple of hrs so I shall say goodnight everyone x
Goodnight RnB x

Hope your Kiwi news is good Dot. I have been thinking of your mate and her horrible family...fingers crossed for her. Dot, your weather sounds a lot like the horrors that we had last week. Stay dry and warm mate xxxx
Interesting how everyone has dumped their old dysons. We still have the really big push along one too, it's just filling up a space on the cupboard. The stick one is all we need. From the amount of crap that it collects, I don't think that even the big dyson was doing too much either.
Today was a much better day. I received a text to tell me that the insurance co had sent me a couple of grand and yes, it's already in my account. There will be another big payment soon, but at least I have now had some start to the recompensing process. Next excitement was the caravan park rang to accept that we are genuinely unable to visit this weekend and they offered a full refund of our deposit. Glad that I didn't tell them what I really thought yesterday.
I am trying to remain positive, so have been inquiring about doing a big Gemfest event in Qld next Easter. I sent a few forms back to their email address, but these things never get answered fast. They are run by volunteers, so I have to be patient, which I have run out of that commodity at the moment.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Every so often, the big Dyson units need to be pulled apart to clean all the build up in that cyclonic filtration thingy and the foam filter pad on top of the motor needs to be washed, the amount of crap that comes out of them in the bowl with washing up liquid in it shows why they start to lose their sucking power. Even the attachments need a good scrub out, along with the flexible hose, the part where it connects into the base seems to collect the most oily dust build up resulting in it getting plugged up easily .....

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Our big Dyson still sucks like a gob stopper but I have trouble tugging the thing around, might give it a clean out though Brian got a good vet report today so he can go off the sneezy pills till next time. Has been rather cold today but oh boy it is dam cold tonight.BOB's have 10ks to go and the rain has started so might be a prang or two before the end of the race. Rang my M* in NZ last night and nearly 2 hrs later I said goodnight to her. I wish she would get some hearing aids, it is very frustrating to keep repeating yourself. Hey Deborah glad your van is sorted so enjoy you mad mob. The Jayco boys are doing ok so far 3ks to go and Luke Durbridge (OZ) is doing great A big fall 800 mts to go and the winner is Milan . Well I am off to bed now Goodnight everyone x
Goodnight Ray who is having trouble getting logged in

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
I've just pulled a big Dyson apart that hardly sucked at all, as Terry said the amount of crap that was built up inside it and all the attachments was amazing. The filters I suspect had never been cleaned and took several days of soaking and lots of flushing under the tap before they even started to allow air through. The big thick pillow one with the rubber edge wouldn't allow compressed air to go through even using a duster nozzle directly on one side. Now I have to remember how it all goes back together!

Dysons are so much fun to pull apart aren't they. I pulled our V10 stick apart last year when it wouldn't run . I thought the battery was nfg. Turned out the purple filter wasn't on properly.

Cheers

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
It is freezing tonight and I am talking to my NZ M8 while typing this and watching the news, Used the new slow cooker today and I had 2 big packs of gravy beef so on we forged, braised it all then chucked it in the pot with beef stock, carrots, spuds , peas, and beans, onion, pumpkin, then lastly broccoli. It was on for 7 hrs and it turned out so moist I ate every bit of it without any problems. Hey Bernie, you gave me some ideas and so now G has a few little jobs to do .
eg making more shelves for the cupboards and also making the cupboards pull out draws, that should keep him bust for a while. Only 1 hr on the ph tonight
Had some rain last night but only some wind today. Time to get the dishes sorted and get ready for the BOB's. One of our friends from NZ has told us he is going back home as he has been here 15 yrs and feels he needs to go home. He is a qualified caravan and M/H repairer ( in Bendigo Vic) and he may start up his own business back in NZ but I don't think he realizes how things have changed for the worst and might just have to rethink his ideas. One thing that he is upset about is he will have to either find a home for his 14 yr old cat with medical issues or put her to sleep and take her ashes because of her heart murmur the authorities will not let it travel. I suggested to him that he signs any responsibility of the pet carriers if the cat died during transit. Can't see what the prob is because a heart murmur is not a contagious disease. He is quite upset about it all. Hope all the sickies are on the mend. Goodnight everyone x
