Prezackly why we chose to buy in Rutherglen!
One of our non-negotiable requirements was a block of land where we could park our 24ft Winnie behind a gate.
Four towns along the Murray had nothing suitable.
Three out of four real estate agents in Yarrawonga said, “Nothing suitable here.”
The fourth said, “Nothing here, BUT…”
So here we are! 😁👍🚌
Regards & God bless,
Ray

Just how far were the steps poking out? When our slide out on our winnie stopped working via its gearbox we manually pushed it in to about 150mm's and had to drive home like that. The prob was a few teeth on one of the cogs sheered off.

First time I hit the tree and bent them in the Hay free camp, roughly 400mm, this time when I clipped the tree, about 180mm, but hard to say, might have been less, the awning arms stick out 100mm and the mirrors 220mm.
The step where it grazed the tree is 200mm off the ground when folded in at the 180mm mark, the awning arms 1100mm off the ground and the mirrors 2200mm above the ground.
I'm guessing the angle of the tree and the fact it would have been bigger at the base than further up the trunk, and maybe the angle I swerved in at, avoided the mirror hitting the tree ..... I was sure this idiot in the 4 X 4 would move back onto his side of the road ...... right up until I realise he wasn't going to get back over his side, so I swerved out of his way .....

Did a quick measure, from centreline to my shoulder is 250mm, if the steps hit a bike, it would have been after my shoulder was torn off and then the side of my head on the awning arms  You would need to be a very poor heavy vehicle driver to get that close to anything travelling in the same direction partly in your lane ......

We had a very similar incident when crossing the river bridge at
Tareeearlier this year. Old mate in his caravan needed to be at least a foot or so over the centreline. I moved over to give the old codger some room as it was obvious he was sh..ting himself.
Unfortunately for me one of the awning arms managed to just connect with something. We have a new awning now. Thankyou Mr C.I.L insurance. In hindsight, I would have been better off stopping on the bridge and letting old mate go. But that didn't happen.

In your case as in my case, if would have force the other driver to get back on their side of the road .... or face the insurance cost of running into another vehicle on the wrong side of the road ..... any excuse like they thought they would hit the trailer/caravan on the left hand side, would probably see their licence revoked .... the hillbilly in the 4 X 4 would most certainly not have passed a licence retest .... if he had one at all .....

So much for claiming the air con was working ok .... first particularly warm day and ..... it is not coping well at all  Needs a fly roof to keep the direct sun off the roof ..... maybe when the containers are in place and the container domes installed, we will park under there in the hot full days.

Headed out with full intention of moving the vehicles, the sun near tore the flesh off in the first 15 mins ..... maybe after the sun goes down ..... it will take an hr longer for that to happen tomorrow, the morning starts an hr earlier .... but that occurs before lunch time, so I doubt I'll see that part of the day ;)

Terry, does that airco not function as expected or does it just not cool the Winny down anymore. I was going to upgrade our old Coleman roof rattler, but maybe not now.
I have a tip on how to get all those vehicles lined up. I know it's not in your game plan, but get up early one morning and get it done before everything gets to hot. Then have the rest of the day off.
Cheers

Margaret was talking about a fan she borrowed from Brian and started talking about sleeping on the new recliner lounge .... around this time last yr .... and I realised we have been living in Winnie for more than 12 mths ..... and it still hasn't fixed itself

Sometimes it seems time flies, other times it seems we are stuck in an ever repeating cycle ....... at least the repair jobs aren't repeating .... yet :o
