Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
Did a final clean on the front of the engine, wire brushed the contact area of the flat pulleys that ride on the back of the belt to get the burnt on rubber and paint lumps off so the new belt will get a smoother run .... and even sprayed a bit of black on the pulleys
The can said 16 hrs drying ..... a nap was had and now we are headed to the club for dinner with Brian and Ruby .....

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
Finally, the reassembly has begun .... or as Margaret described it, the dismantling has ended, so is the mantling or remantling when you start to put it back together
Seems I could have improved my cleaning a tad ..... next time
Margaret felt she was up to helping with the Winnie fixing Then the repainting ..... well actually, painting, seems that wasn't seen as important at the fitting station, nor with who ever took the tanks out 10 yrs ago for retesting .... assuming they actually did remove them to be inspected and pressure tested
Painting didn't even seem to be a requirement at the Winnie throw together shop, ground through the protective coating in the chassis rails, vertical welds to hold the body brackets on
but repaint the bare metal ..... not even as far as removing the mill scale from the angle iron
At least they have a coat of paint on them now .....
Started raining, so play was called off for the day .... time for a nap I reckon

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
After this mornings effort, I'm thinking about putting my name for for the next big bash series ..... If you count the little legs, each run was a min of a 6, some were clear boundary efforts, every swing of the spray gun, completely effortless
I'll see if my run scoring continues after lunch ..... although I expect I'll declare before afternoon drinks .....
Haven't lost my touch and my skill set is still at about the same level

Play resumed after lunch and I managed to retain my run rate, so declared well before afternoon drinks to give my self time to clean up the spray gun and myself
I discovered another benefit from spraying Aluminium silver=frost enamel, I now have hi-lights in my whiter than white hair and a special type of hairspray that keeps it standing straight up no matter what way the wind blows .... just a quick run of the fingers through the hair front to back, and it returns to the standing straight up style

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
Our dome is from a different supplier and the dome trusses are double tubes, so much stronger to cope with the southerlies that pick up speed as the cross the ex airstrip the other side of the big pipe. That whole section along the nth side of Ramm Rd was old man Eichler's private landing strip, when he stopped flying, they dump piles of dirt on parts of the runway to stop other people from using it .....
This is the dome we bought https://www.qualitydomesdirect.com.au/p ... russ-dome/ but it will mount on the outer edges on each container so the containers will also be under the dome ..... there are other photos on that site that show the double truss domes mounted over the containers ....
If you click on the Engineering tab it shows how they are mounted to the container and all the Aust Standards ir meets
