The Hoya aren't the best

A lot of us have homes we spend some time in. Discussions can be about any topic that may be of interest that you can think of... renovations, purchases, expenses, etc, etc

The Hoya aren't the best

Post by supersparky »

I need some help. A mate gave me this hoya a while back. It didn't look that well when I got it, and it hasn't got any better looking.
9I've had it maybe a year or so now.
Anyone got any idea what it may be suffering from a lack of?

I'm gunna guess pot bound, all roots, no soil so can't get any nutrients, so it running on water ..... and it's fighting a number of other plants in the same pot and they look like they are winning the battle

Those things need one of those half a wine barrel size pots ......

Being a Hoya, it would depend on which lens your looking though.

Hoya are also a brand of lens.

Dave, don't molly coddle the Hoya. They don't like too much water. Leave them in a pot. Orchid type mix for the soil. Morning sun etc. They will grow easily from cuttings

Hooroo.

Looks like the "snail" Hoya. David maybe a repot is needed so use an orchid mix potting mix in a pot not much bigger than the one it is in. When watering them spray them (leaves) from the top they do not like to be waterlogged and better to be dryer than other plants I use a self watering pot and every couple of mths I use a very week seasol solution If using a self watering pot it pretty well looks after itself but remember not too much water and if you like you can mix a bit of very good quality potting mix All of mine are starting to flower Keep them in their own pot and a good spray to settle it into it's new home . Good luck.

Well done John for winning Saturday nights quiz.

I can see now, that I'm doing everything wrong. This one gets too much water and no morning sun.
I'll repot it it, move it to a better spot and try not to kill it.
Thanks for the advice everyone.
