What happened to the vehicle Bob? Quite a trip from Mareeba down to Brisbane and back, about 1,800km each way isn't it?

Re: Where Are You Now??
Just a Quick update, we have had quite an adventure since leaving the Murray, we proceeded through to Peterborough (SA) before enjoying the hospitality of the Flinders Ranges, not very friendly if you like free camping, and or have a dog, but all in all some magnificent scenery and very friendly wildlife Emus and Kangaroos are everywhere in abundance.
We then decided to brave the rigours of the Oodnadatta Track through to Marla, despite of the protestations of the better half we had quite a good trip, we had a few minor problems, but nothing insurmountable, the bus came through with flying colours. The water tank moved slightly and rubbed through the gas line creating a pinhole necessitating draining and removing the water tank, (not difficult just awkward) then repairing the pipe and re-fixing the tank so that it can't move forward (Tightening the brackets and fixing a stay) despite some decent corrugations no sign of it moving since. However the trailer didn't fare as well. I lost a spare wheel (bracket and all) and that went back under the wheel and the result was one broken spring pack, as well as one lost spare, ended up unloading the car, removing the extra axle assembly, and formed a convoy, for the next hundred k or so, until we got into Oodnadatta. Nothing available there and as the town was in party mode, for the races, there was not much being accomplished anywhere, we decided to soldier on, in convoy, to Marla.
When we left Oodnadatta the road was great, freshly graded and other than the occasional bulldust hole good driving conditions. We decided to stop the night about halfway between Oodnadatta and Marla and try and catch up on lost sleep, about 8.30pm it started to rain and continued through to about 5am the next morning.
If there is anything worse to drive on than wet, freshly graded bulldust, I don't know what it is, but other than the odd waltz, (and possibly The Pride of Erin as well) we arrived in Marla none the worse for wear, the bus and trailer resplendent in it's new colour scheme of ochre red, over grey. We loaded the car back on the trailer and proceded on to Alice on one axle albeit a bit overloaded, but we got here, and now have to prevail on some old time friendships and acquire the necessary bits to get back on the road.

And I bet you were glad Shirley was not in the bus with you for all that way
as long as Beau was well catered for who cares what discomforts you two had
Sounds like you had a good time though and that's all that matters,, any pics of the nicely coloured bus?

Only up one side of the bus?
At least you can see now that you need a bit better mud guard! Will stop stones chipping the paintwork as well.
Like baby poo that Northern dirt when it's wet.
Sometimes a 24 hr rest will harded the mud up surprisingly quickly.
