Re: Activated charcoal filter.
Craig,
On the other forum, or on one of the recent now defunct forums there was a bloke who made up a roof top vent using 3" PVC with a computer fan as the extractor. He apparently found when underway his black and grey tanks pressurized, no idea how he determined this but it sounded feasible. To overcome the back pressure he fitted a small shroud around the front half of the vent stack which allegedly stopped the back pressurizing. I guess by forming a vacuum at the rear of it. My main concern for fitting the charcoal canister was to stop the chance of odor. I figure the little solar fans shape should overcome any back pressure problems.

My vent outlet is on the rear facing back, never had a problem with pressurising, I think the venturi action back there helps with this. My solar exhaust vent in the shower/toilet runs backwards in high wind (I have never been back to see what happens when driving)

Yep, that's it. I have one just like that above the shower/toilet and in high wind it blows backwards. They are also a tad noisy in the dead of night

Looks like I might have to switch it off when underway and at nights. I can just imagine the bride if its noisy at night.....

Re: Activated charcoal filter.
Dirk, I can now confirm what the vent does while underway. Wilbors vent is on top about 30cm from the rear & about 30cm behind a solar panel so it has a bit of shielding from wind (not much though). At 85klm/hr with the vent turned off the wind rushes in through the vent, with it turned on it pushes air out against the wind

G'Day rob,
That's for the info. Hope you didn't set the cruise control and walk back to check this out.....Lol. Some women in the states did, wanted to make a sandwich, guess what happened.
Mine will be just behind the solars to, probably about the same distance. Looks like it might need a bit of a shroud to cover it and leave it open toward the rear. Wouldn't be ideal to have it pressurizing the tanks. What do you reckon.
