Terry,

These are all manual, but it might give some ideas on how to set the treads level....
https://www.safesmartaccess.com.au/reso ... ype=videos

or do you just make the treads level referenced to the floor?

Another thought..... would having 2 sets of steps work? ie: first set bolted to the floor and then the second set bolted to the bottom tread of the first set?

It's got the slide, a little set of steps. Even a place to cool down in the Mannum summer. Brilliant. So many other styles too.
  Do I have to blow it up and then let it down again to put it away after each stop  I'm trying to picture the set up down in the paddock at Taggerty

The whole aeroplane door with the steps moulded into the inside of the door, I thought about for big bus, but the door is 2 mtrs high, that would mean, pivoted at the base, it would stick 2 mtrs out 1.9 mtr from the Winnie .... a half door would work, half goes up and the lower half folds down ..... as long as the ground we are parked on is completely level, wouldn't work where the left side would be raised on the level legs, or up against a low retaining wall or dirt/lawn hump at the gutter ..... then there is the issue of a screen door ..... so it all came down to slide out steps or folding steps.

Progress for today. The 1.6mm metal sheet to go under the frame to keep the water and dirt out of the inside steps, is painted and in place. The angle iron frame is back in, complete with 6mm holes in the two flats to bolt it into the sheet metal box that makes up the second step fold up step cupboard, so the stress is spread along the whole length, not just a bit of folded tin. The lower step and second step are back in to make getting in and out safe, so tomorrow I'll start on reshaping the fibreglass sandwich panel that makes up the body panel below the door .....

And, I replace the cheapie black nylon awning that goes over the passenger side bedroom window, to keep the sun out a bit, and replace the foil windscreen heat reflector cover over the driver's side bedroom window to stop the first thing in the morning sun burning in at 5 am, making it stinking hot in no time at all ...

The winds shredded both the awning and the reflective sheet I had up there before, will reduced wind strength today .... I took on the challenge .... that sun is just relentless .... this time of yr

Jon, all of these step ideas are great...... for exiting the vehicle, but the never ending problem, how do you get back in the bus after you pack it away???

Alright, then how about this......

https://hoist-winch.onboardsystems.com/about/ like is only 700mm drop but imagine the excitement. Terry can make the chop chop sound, and so on.

I do see a problem though.... the tree.

I know.... maybe, looking at it the wrong way???

Lower the bus.... Like a lowrider. Rest it on the ground and use the hydraulics to lift it up to drive height. simples.

Take out the leaf springs and go full air bag suspension .... that sounds so much easier than getting these steps to work
