We are parked up on the beach at "Ray's Rest" near Miranda about an hour south of Auckland on the East coast. It would be a lovely spot on a nice day ;)

Sure did Dot... & no need of extra propulsion from me either!

Plans sorta changed along the way a couple of times as often happens with us. Ferinstance, we had intended to utilise free camping a lot more on this trip but blew it on the first night - 5th June - due to crappy weather so stayed overnight ($23) at Crystal Brook. Next day it was on to Kimba rec reserve, then we reached Ceduna where Navigator wanted to do some shopping so we pulled into the Airport Caravan Park, ($28) an Oz Park joint. Now we've found these to be pretty good, generally basic without all the crap you normally get in Big 4's etc, but this one was crap all over. Quite a big place but only about 6 vans on site & very, run down - but still charged $28 per night.

A drive around the town the next day showed us a much better park practically right in the middle of town - Foreshore van park, so had a walk through there & liked it. The night before we were due to leave Ceduna I remembered I hadn't filled a prescription for my pill requirements so we decided to hang on there for a couple more days - but moved to the Foreshore park... ($30) noice!

Left there on 13th for Penong ($27) then Fowlers Bay 14th... ($28) that was nice... but the 10klm dirt road in there was a bit messy due to recent rains so the silver cruiser was then 2 toned! Nice little park with a campfire at happy hour. From there we'd intended to take about a week to cross the Nullarbor - all on free camps.

Yeah right!

Plan on the day was to take at least 2 days to the Border Village quarantine area to allow us to use up our vegies etc... but the first spot we picked around lunchtime was full of crap papers etc so kicked on but the next couple were the same ... so bugger... it decided to head to a lookout spot about 20 kays before the village. Bewdy... looks clean & a Winnie was already there so we pulled in & went for a quick walk to the cliffs for a bo-peep then back for a cuppa. As we were cooking dinner with vegies - our last - a couple of others pulled in as well, then the Winnie left & about ten minutes later so did the others. OK. No dramas. Then a couple of cars with noisy young idiots pulled in & looked like they might be there a while, so we pulled out & headed for the Border Village van park... ($25) arrived just on 6pm!

Had we stayed at the Lookout spot we would then have moved to Eucla for a cupla days to do some washing etc, but, as we stayed at the Boarder Village instead we decided to kick on a bit further. That 'bit further ended up being Balladonia Roadhouse where we stopped for the night ($28), had dinner in the roadhouse 2 x burgers with large chips & 2 x coffees... $47 thankyou!!!

I think they saw us coming!!!

Now we're in the Prospector Holiday Park at Kalgoorlie for the week.

Fuel economy for the V8 twin turbo diesel Cruiser towing the 3T ++ van has been 20 - 21L/100 sitting on 85-90k...happy with that'

Nav's had her hair cut short today... also happy with that.
