Re: No. of Solar Panels.
That about sums it up, everyone has a different idea, the manufacturer gives a set 2.5Ah x 24 but then says the firdge can operate at 12v or 24v.... if the voltage doubles the current halves, so is the 2.5Ah at 12v or 24v

Re: No. of Solar Panels.
Those panels sure are wide George, I see the problem you were talking about now, but mounting the panels on top of the aluminium angle seems to have solved that and you still have good clearance in the middle of the panel.
Great looking job and 500w should give you what you need to keep the fridge happy and enough left for the lights and tv. It will be interesting to see a report in a mth or so.

Re: No. of Solar Panels.
Hi, all.
George and family - just a few questions
Do you have a fixed ladder at the back ?
How do you prop the panel - incrementally as required or bolting temporary struts in place?
T I Terry comments that this array should power your fridge, lights and tv - how big is the fridge?
Have you an audible wind gauge?
When are you coming up to the Rainshine Coast, and have you tried Mrs shonky's lamingtons? We're expecting a bumber, no that should read bumper, crop this July.

Have you an audible wind gauge? Not necessary, see above

Re: No. of Solar Panels.
I have just been out and reviewed my solar. Decided that the real estate on the food like pretty bare with only 2x80 so I have just ordered 2 more 200watt units. Giving me a total of 560 watts. If that is not enough I am in very deep doo doo.
Just have to wait a few weeks till workshop is clear to do it and the axle thing.
