Water, water everywhere

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Hi Russell,
Does the water not run off of the roof. From the Picture it looks like it can't drain away. Also, does the roof have a rubber membrane (EPDM) over it or is it fibreglass?

It's quite a swimming pool up there, the dynamics changed recently when I raised the from end by 60mm when I put heavier springs in the front, thus the water pooled even more up the back end. The roofing material is fibreglass.

If you use sikaflex don't use metho to clean off the excess especially the white sika. For some reason it seems to react and keeps it wet, real wet never curing. Black sika of the same code doesn't seem to be effected for some reason.

Surely when travelling in the rain the water should/must run off the back?
There must be a drain or gap back there blocked Russell?

It happens when we are parked mainly, the water pools on the flat roof and finds it's way in.

I cleared the water off the roof yesterday by driving around the storage yard.

Its been a problem noticed since the warrantee expired on the s/h vehicle purchase. :-(

Apply masking tape either side of where you intend placing the sealant then after application run finger along using soapy water. This will smooth the sealant while pushing the excess onto the masking tape. The masking tape should then be removed immediately before the sealant begins to set.

If it is done this way there should be no need to use metho, turps or any other solvent. Be sure to clean the surface thoroughly beforehand using some window cleaner then some metho.

Turps is the safest, but acetone will remove cured Sikaflex, it fries it. Smooth down with a finger dipped in water and washing up liquid, it will skin fast that way as well. If you don't have Sika Primer, methanol works well to prepare the surface and make a "never let go" adhesion. 11FC or Marine work best where exposed to direct sunlight, pro goes yellow and powders very quickly in direct sunlight. if you get it on your clothes, that will be the only area remaining when the rest of the fabric wears away, it just never comes out.
