Went to take my boots off last night to find my socks and leg encrusted with blood, jeans soaked! Frantically cleared it up ...no pain whatsoever btw....to find a HOLE in my leg! Still no pain this morning, ...I have been walking in long wet grass and bush...what could it be?
Cheers
Dee

Always carry salt in the back pack, leeches don't like it & come off easy.
Not a nice experience, our g'son ended up with several on him in Woko N.P.NSW.

A part of going swimming in any country creek or dam, always take the salt with you. The body can produce a lot of blood on demand, the leach doesn't eat much, hardly a problem really. Much prefer the leaches to the ticks, they are nasty buggers, metho and cotton wool for them, they back out into the ball of metho soaked cotton wool, no holes to speak of and no poison pumped in, put the cotton wool ball on the ground and lite it, a cremation sending the tick onto the spirit world

OK come on guys, lets be nice to someone if only just for once
I will be brave and be the first to offer my sympathy to you dear Dee for being so savagely attacked by that slimy little sucker, hope you did not fall prey to anaemia as a result and you lose your fear of tramping through the bush again. How was that?

Re: Hole in my leg!
Bushwalking group abandoned a 3 day hike recently when one of the party had a bad reaction to a leech in the eye. The whole group was picking the buggars off and at least three of us got leeches in their eyes. How's that for yuckky?GregnDee wrote:Yuk yuk yuk
