Good morning Admin, yes I was running it from the cig lighter socket. Another problem it had was it would flash up on the screen that the battery was flat and shut down even when the 12 volt supply was being used. I am very familiar with LiPo batteries as I am heavily into radio control aircraft and I tested the battery and was getting 3.9 volts from the 3.7 single cell LiPo.

All my experienced problems are well documented at http://dashcamtalk.com/category/dashcamreviews/ they even show you how to pick a knock off but unfortunately the pictures shown in the eBay descriptions are normally of the original and not of the knock off.

We all purchase these cheap items from ebay knowing that we could be getting a dude ...
Glenn here is a quote from the OP; " I got two off evilharbour at $70 each I think, but threw them out because they were not up to scratch." You just repeated what I'd had already done. Hint: read my signature. :(

Man we got DUD's, not studs.
Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.

Had an el cheapo and got my monies worth. It broke, just bought a Uniden I go 300 for $69 at The Good Guys in Cairns.

Tall about chalk and cheese.

Should produce some excellent results on the road based on today's test.

Will post up when I get.
We never have a camera ready when driving, and I am hoping for action shots not involving accidents or sill y behaviour.
