We are in Cowra, the site of the worlds biggest POW break out, when 1100 Japanese attempted to breakout, 342 did escape, 270 dead, 109 wounded, 4 Australian garrison soldiers killed.

Nasty business.

As it happened, we visited the WWII Cemetery in Adelaide River today. How's that for coincidence. Most of the soldiers, and some civilian victims such as the Darwin Post Office staff, were actually relocated there from the various battlefields, or crash sites.
