Your take on best & worst State for Free Camping Poll

Best State for Free Camping Poll
I'm really curious to get some idea about what people think about what states are the friendliest for Free Camps?
The First one is for those who visited in the last Year and the second for those who visited in the past 5 years.
Have some changed for the better? or worse?
Maybe someone could format this properly for me, I'm clueless!!!

Cut & Paste from here down and add your rating
Rate
1 for disgrace - 2 mostly bad - 3 tolerable - 4 mostly good - 5 fantastic

That's going to be really hard to answer because it can vary town to town even in the same state.
Some towns have improved and become very good whilst others have gone the other way.
Just look at Mannum, SA & Murray Bridge, SA?
From now on I'll bypass Mannum & stay at Murray Bridge instead. It's their decision......

I meant just generally Bruce, and that's why I asked for last 12 months and past 5 years. Mmmmmmm maybe too hard but I found SA on a whole great whereas WA is teetering on unfriendly!

We haven't got to travel enough to give each state a balanced view but we have found Victoria to be quite good in areas, not all, but quite few good spots. For the parts of Qld we have travelled through we found free rest stops hard to find, NSW isn't a lot better either. Having a rethink on that, actually NSW has quite a few good free camp sites so I'll put them a few pegs higher than Qld

Mind you I must stress that this is the councils, whereas the people here in WA are fantastic, ask anyone for where water is etc and they'll go out of their way to help, Rangers are even lovely blokes..........just their councils are unfriendly in general ....so far?!

Our last big trip was over 8 yrs ago but we found Qld to be the worst by a long way, NSW, Vic, SA, and WA were all good.
Last trip this yr was just to Vic and we had no troubles finding overnight spots in both Vic & SA.
Hope to get a better idea later this yr but definitely next.

Hi All, We found QLD the worst some years back, now we go all the way to WA each winter. Better fishing and weather in the winter. cost 5.50 a day where we are just now. ( be early )
Weesanickingoff parked right behind us last week, so it has to be good here, right....
The rest of the states ???

Darwin takes the prize for me as the absolute pits. Not only user hostile, there is nothing there worth seeing imo.

After that comes Cooktown.

Can't say anything about WA as it's the only place I haven't been - yet.

dawg (I suppose Alice rates a mention too as you are not welcome anywhere near town outside the caravan parks except for paying for parking at the Road Transport Museum with volunteer work and that's 10 or 15km down the road.)
Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.

Hi, all.

Currently spending 3 weeks around Dickabran Bridge and Kinbombi Falls, within 100km of Gympie, enjoying great weather, great companionship and great scenery. Free camping everywhere we've been, including Noosa, Gympie and Castaway Beach. Queensland? We love it.
See you on the back roads,
