Very good setup there Eddie!
I've been trying to decide if I'll bother with the sat dish or not as we don't often go bush that much.

The solar panels are on a pop-top roof that also holds a collection of roof cupboards or lockers as well so it's quite heavy. The roof raising apparatus is a work of genius. My next project is the modify it to make remote tilting solar panels and a kit for pop-top assist. A clever lad is our eddie the Bush Rat and he has a collection of clever mates as well, Ballarat Bill would be right up there with the best of them too, that friction clutch idea for the dish positioning, brilliant in it’s simplicity.
In my book that is how true clever is measured, a technically difficult job achieved in the simplest way possible using commonly available bits, and easy to reproduce, that is true cleverness.

G'day Terry,

Gee mate, I'm blushing now...

You're right about Bill - a clever bloke and his attention to detail is amazing. His fabrication skills are extraordinary!

The pop-top is lifted by this product - http://www.rvairlifters.com.au/ The operator, Tim in Brisbane, tells me that his system has lifted up to 300kg.

G'day Shirley,

Yes, it's a Mitsbishi Delica 4WD 2.8 intercooled turbo diesel. I went for it because of it's compactness, meaning I could go to more places. It took some time, but I'm now used to the smaller size than the Transit I had before.

Hey Eddie, hope you'll look us up when you get to NZ. There's plenty of parking space at home or we could arrange to meet you somewhere. Be good to catch up again.

My son has one Eddie, they are great the way you can turn the seats around in them.
He has used & abused it & it hasn't let him down.
His wife has a Toyota Aurion.
