Year 2012 TAX REFUND E-mail SCAM

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Year 2012 TAX REFUND E-mail SCAM

Post by Keith Morris »

"tanks" here----
I have just received an email informing me that I have a TAX REFUND for year 2012.
The email looked very official--with even a fake ato address.

I phoned the ATO and was informed that this is a scam and not to open or answer the e-mail, with a request to FORWARD it to:
reportemailfraud@ato.gov.au

Keith.

I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Timely warning, thankyou Keith, few would suspect someone claiming to be the tax office as a scam
A person may fail many times, they only become a failure when they blame someone else John Burrows
Those who struggle to become a leader, rarely know a clear direction forward for anyone but themselves

My silly sister-in-law opened the AFP scam, for the second time. It cost her $150 to get it sorted the first time, the puter bloke is going to charge her more this time.

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I received one of those last week, and even the NAB and ANZ have locked my accounts.I should be panicking, but the ATO owes me nothing and I don't owe them,as for the NAB and ANZ accounts .I'll have to open some accounts so they can be locked (I don't have any)Just be very careful of what you open or respond to(BEST NOT TO OPEN)cheers Peter

Get a few of these sort of emails claiming my internet provider is stopping my account as there was a credit card problem and to provide details, password, account number etc. Been getting Commonwealth bank and ANZ bank warning of account closures for a long time now. Plenty of scams out there so be careful...... always ring the company/bank etc. concerned on THEIR publicly advertised phone number, not the one mentioned on the email. If in doubt ignore and delete. If its genuine and serious enough the company concerned will let you know and not by email.

I'll send you a few if you like. I actually thought I saw your name mentioned by some millionaire in Rhodesia offering to transfer a couple of million into your account if you would just give him you password and details.

Ah common George, everybody has been threatened with account closure for a Telstra service they don't have at some point in time. You must be doing something wrong.

And what about the rise of Fedex package issues that need your urgent attention, going on the hunch that given the popularity of online purchases, you will be expecting something and not suspect it's a scam?
