3pm and internet coverage and settled into Texas after a "few" detours
time for a cuppa and a sit down outside with the lost shepherd.

Dot, the only reason I mentioned the road at Dalby was because I nearly fell over when I tried to walk across it. It was like a rollercoaster.Dot wrote:What you just noticed the roads in Dalby??what about the rest of them with the 2ft drop off on the sides and the roadworks are a cover over of the dips and drops already there. I now have 2 saggy bags to the floor after todays effort.
Now about yours is bigger than mine, I have a pretty tree in my pic so there.
We unpacked the bus today and emptied out the fridge. And just for something to do I will have to remove the water tank that I just repaired and reweld the seam. Bl**dy stainless steel tanks were never mounted correctly when the conversion was done.
Cheers

David I had to repair my stainless tank when I bought the MH. Stainless is OK but is very brittle along welds. It is very important to have baffles in the right place & see if you can fit some supports around it like they do around Lithium batteries. Marine aluminium is used in cray boats because of this problem.
I know of someone that drilled 1/2" holes in both sides of his stainless tank, ran some rod through & out the other side & welded it for extra support.
It is possible to just use an arc welder on SS.

To stop stainless tanks from splitting up the seams the edges must fold over to the sides so the weld is not in the high stress area and both sheets must be folded over so there is one seam outside and one seam inside. Naturally, this is far too hard to do and make a $$ as well so the tanks are not correctly constructed, the twisting splits the seams.
Either mig or TIG, getting the heat up first for mig is very difficult and results in a cold weld fracture where the weld starts so tig is the preferred repair method.

Ok it is AO story time..
Before I had my shower I thought I should "unsettle" George just a tad, he had gone for a walk and when he came inside I told him there was a problem in the loo. "What type of problem?" he asked, "Well I did a huge poop and the dam thing won't go down, I have tried twice even tried flooding it and flushing again but to no avail" He then said "What do you want me to do about it"? so I told him if he wants to use the loo he had better think of something and fast
So outside he went and came back inside with a stick (I thought he was going to beat IT to death) I suggested he take the blender with him, no smile with that comment
so off he went to the loo and closed the door, I heard a mutter and he emerged with stick raised, by this time I was just about on the floor laughing my its off, had to go outside where Christine was waiting to know what the noise was about so then she was in fits as well. You know you are loved when your man goes to tackle the stubborn brown snake for you.
