Bloody computers...

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

'Er indoors says Calibre is available on the Mac but you also need Kindle for Mac (free download from Amazon). She then launched into a long spiel about DRM, and reading with this to convert to that.....When I woke up she suggested if you need to know all about this stuff get in touch. She's well into ebooks and has 45000 at last count.

You can get it from calibre-ebook.com/download apparently.

I gather you need both, one converts the book to...hang on

Open in Kindle,
flip a couple of pages,
exit
Open Calibre
Add the file from the "My kindle" folder (or wherever they are stored on you computer)
Then....

oh crap it's getting boring again, I'll PM you her email.

EDIT: PM'd, and DRM is Digital Rights Managed, in other words you aren't supposed to be able to copy the book.

Thanks Rob,
Just downloaded Calibre for Mac, and read the first part of the User's Guide... will read the rest after sleepies.
Try-out "Sometime after Now" as son and heir states when pressed for a time on anything. ;)

Certainly is hard work using Apple stuff, get a proper 'puter, all happens in seconds.

My windoze and Android gear get along fine. That Calibre is good for sorting books out too :D

The Mac seem to be the problem part Wayne, maybe getting a real computer would be the better move ;)

Hi, all

I use an Imac 21 with an extensive Ebook file, and use a Kobo tablet which is great in that it reads primarily Epub, the most popular format, and, in more recent models, Mobi, the format utilised by all Amazon Ebooks. Granted when reading a Mobi novel the odd misspelt word in the 5th line of each page indicates how hard the Kobo is working, but otherwise it's fine in all respects, unless you want backlighting.

Hi, all

Used to have Caliber a year or so ago, but with a latest model Kobo it's superfluous, unless of course your computer is Windows 7 or 8 plus the latest patch and McAfee and still gets hacked.
