That site has the same problem Bruce, for example I can't select Mitsubishi and Nissan, it has to be one or the other.

Hi Rob

Please select one option that suits you, and add the rest of the detail in the comment boxes.

I doubt there has ever been a poll ever started that suits everyone. That is why we want as much input as possible at this stage of the process. We need your input so we know what you want. We may not be able to suit everyone's requrest, but we will not know if you don't tell us.

Please go http://www.cmca.net.au/survey and have your say NOW !!

Thanks for all the input so far :D

Lots of good suggestions are being made and I thank all those who have participated so far.

We are currently doing a GeoWiki Help Desk at the Solo Rally in Bingara before we head to Narrabri.
Some of the ideas that have surfaced here are ..

.... would like to have a user profile that can be saved ... because ... I always want to search for Dog Friendly Sites with Power and that would save me having to select those options every time I use GeoWiki

.... would like to see disabled car parks listed in GeoWiki ... because ... I can not walk very far and never know where the disabled car parks are.

...... want OPTUS mobile phone added to GeoWiki ... because ... I have an OPTUS Phone !!!

Lots more too

Please enter any further entries if you think of something else ... we only have a few weeks and then the survey will be removed once the planning phase is over.

So why can't further options be added later. This is one of the problems of the previous as I understood it. No room for improvement or additional features. Things change and users come across different ideas and situations where an "add on" or some modification would be needed. If it can't be altered then I can't see the benefit against a booklet like Camps.... That so GeoWiki will become just another site.

I filled in the survey. Certainly needs a lot more options than what's in there at the moment.

I don't see how that would help. They are pretty much everywhere but, no matter how many disabled car parks were provided, they would still be filled by people who don't need to use them!

I am a member and would happily use the geowiki thing if it offered us the things we need. As caravanners who do not feel safe in the free camp situation, it is obvious that we are after cheap, reasonable caravan parks, often in smaller towns (show grounds are acceptable to us). I did the survey, but found it difficult to fill in the first question, so had to do a bit of a write up in the next available space.

I gave up trying to follow the directions for the geowiki as it seemed to become very difficult to navigate, so hopefully, an improvement will happen fairly quickly. Good luck with it all.
Hi Deb,
We freedom camp almost exclusively, and often hear concerns as to the security and safety, of free camps, as compared to Caravan Parks, the only thing that I will state is, look at the statistics, there are more rapes and assaults, theft, drunken and unsociable behaviour, etc. committed in Caravan Parks than ever perpetrated in free camps. And the fact that many parks have now become budget style housing, or mining camps, in many instances, has further alienated many. I prefer to donate my meagre spendings directly to the small businesses in a region, rather than filter it through a caravan park.
Granted free camps do not have power or many amenities, so you have to be set up to fully appreciate them, but we have found more congenial company and social interaction, at free sites than at any Caravan Park.
Geowiki as it was envisioned and originally touted was a site for members and by members, that is it was not meant to compete with Camps books wiki camps or any of the myriad of camp site publications that are out there, but was meant as a closed site on which members could share information on camp sites, not available elsewhere.
Once the Club published it in book form, and then sold the publication, a lot of the people, that contributed to the original concept, felt betrayed and ceased their association with the whole idea. I can't see that there is much, if anything, that can be done to enhance what has become, in the eyes of many who initially contributed, a flawed concept!

Agreed John, once the CMCA board betrayed the trust of the membership for profit or gain, the concept was destroyed and that trust will be very difficult to regain, if at all. A short sighted decision by a board that was out of touch with the membership, but once done, it can't be undone I'm afraid. An opportunity wasted and now time and technology has beaten it to the punch, to many alternatives readily available these days to make it any sort of prized asset to encourage membership to the club.
