The smell of the roses and the lavender is just beautiful, plus the bees the lavender attracts has improved the fruit trees production especially the cherries

If the lavender comes off the stem easily when you pull upward along the stem then it's a go to bag. The English lavender it the best for this.
The perfume from this rose is magical

Is that rose a Double Delight,? it is meant to be one of the most scented roses that grow in Aus.

woah....hang on a minute Dotty. You have just been away for a month and a bit. You have just got home to find a well cropped lawn, all your flowers blooming and the garden looking neat and tidy. Are you sure you didn't leave George behind????
Who have you had secretly looking after that garden of yours, the fairies????
We haven't even left home and ours is soooo full of weeds, Mike would be able to hide in them
That rock wall goes all the way along to the left and to the right, plus there is another rock wall above that and somewhere in there are hibiscus bushes and kangaroo paws. We spent all weekend slashing other parts of the garden, and we even rediscovered the swimming pool
Bloody knees (his and mine) and now my left shoulder has been twinged at work, so a week of not able to do bugga all
but it's on the mend (fingers crossed)
Gee Dottie, I hope your gardeners cheap

Come on Jenny, what's that green stuff in the photo? I've been to SA and they put artificial lawn grass in the nature strips and beside the footpaths to make it look like grass grows there. Dottie puts the lawn sprinkler on to keep a green cover over the dirt, I was surprised to see green grass in her photos after being away for a mth but I just put it down to photo shopping

Re: EerWeGoAgen Departs Sept 1st 2013
"tanks" here----You are lucky with your gardens and lawn. Love the rose picture. My Mr.Lincon roses are all dead, as are most of the other garden plants.
I left home and went On-the-Road on 18 MAY on my Around Australia journey.
The bloke I had looking after my place evidently has not done the right thing.
One of the grandkids paid the town a visit last week and informs me that the yards and gardens of both houses are a jungle of long grass and weeds.
I'm a bit upset over this as I have offered for a few Forum Members the use of one of the houses. As it turns out they have made other prior arrangements and were unable to accept my offer, so no loss of face there.
I won't be back at my Home Base till December, and I'm not looking forward to the task of slashing the yards and removing the cuttings. Perhaps I can get the grandkids to visit the place again and do the job for me before I get home.
Wishful thinking ---but this will cost me, one way or another, with blood, sweat, and tears, and the cost of buying new roses and flowering plants for area planting.
Enjoy your garden and take time to smell the roses.
Keith.
