Not sure if I want anyone knowing when I have my phone on.

I use it for shopping lists and reminders and making my two or three calls a month.

I find it every Wednesday to check the Aldi web side for the current specials and use wikicamps and the sat apps if needed.

In the fire season I do keep a better watch as I check the current states fire app every morning and lunch time just in case.

Every six weeks or so the kids MAY want to find out where I am and that's about it. It often lays around the bus somewhere and I have to search for it to recharge before I can use it.

I went to download the Bigpond app the other day and it want access to facebook etc etc so I stopped it before it could load.

Brian

Julie uses her phone to scan the grocery items we require and they are automatically added to her online Woolies home delivery order which can be accessed on the laptop, rather than fiddling with the phone when actually placing the order.

George,
What app do you use for scanning them?
What method do you use to transfer the list to your laptop?
Do you store the list on your phone first, or transfer item by item to the laptop?
Regards & God bless,
Ray

I recently had to fill out a paper form and was appalled at how bad my handwriting (printing, actually) has become. :P
Hi , do you use a particular App for your list and appointments, is it one of the same or different, tried to find one today in the App Store on my phone but so many to pick from  Thanks.

Ros, I had an App called ShopShop but found it too cumbersome and just use the Notes App for all my lists. For shopping, I have a note called (surprisingly!) Shopping which I add to as I use stuff up or if I am going to make something particular and need ingredients. As I go round the shop, I delete each item as I put it in the trolley. Anything I wasn't able to get remains on the list so I know to get it next time or elsewhere. I never forget to get things that way. I have "to do", "wish list", "caravan" etc lists. Whenever I think of something I want to remember, it goes into a new or existing list. On the caravan list, I have a record of the part numbers of our water filters so I can order new ones etc. On our recent 7 month trip, every time we spent money, it was recorded in the "Trip" list which was later put into an Excel spreadsheet. I found this great when we refueled etc and recorded cost, litres, mileage before we even left the servo and whether we paid by CC, debit card or cash so that I was easily able to check the credit card statement each month.

As for appointments, I use the Calendar and find it very simple. You can set each appointment with an alert so you are sent a message at whatever time/date you specify.

Hope that helps but happy to answer any questions.

Brad, thanks for the link I will look into it but, as I have a $500 monthly cap, I generally just use the phone. Overseas calls are a different story though so if Viber is easier and better than Skype, I'm happy to give it a go.
Cheers

Ray,

It is the Woolworths app.

I have a Woolworths on line shopping account, so when I log into my app I use my login for that account.

There is a scanning facility on the app, so you can either save the items directly to your trolley or create a shopping list.

When you logon to your Woolworths account on your computer you can access your list and add to your trolley.

Your are not missing anything Dot, believe me. I mean, when ever have you picked up a pencil with a dead battery. Even without paper you can scribble an important note on your palm with a biro faster than you can find where to put it in a so-called smart phone, which are anything BUT intuitive.

I just stay in the game to keep my cells active - both of them.
