Hi, all.
We're back at Lake Clarendon after 3 months or so in NSW - great trip overall, and we've found a really pleasant spot to mellow out for a few days. Alan's pub has a nice flat paddock miles from the main drag, with cheap showers, horses to terrify Steffie, a go-kart stadium next door which was unused during our stay and a winery not too far away. A philosophical question - if you buy a few beers at the bar are you still free camping? If so, that blows apart our camping budget of one dollar a day. And our average tankful of diesel only lasted three weeks.
BTW Norm, who we met here in September, stated that it would not rain here for three weeks, and he was undeniably accurate. We were hoping to advise him that Mrs shonky could hang a full coffee mug on a cup hook.

Hi, all.
First person to work out the whereabouts of Alan's pub gets two free lamingtons, and ditto for the other two problems. Thinking caps on, please.

Hi, all.
For the curious, Alan's pub is in the village of Alan, about ten km west, and a bit North, of Warwick, and a great old pub it is. Built in the 1870's, it advertises Power's Bitter. When asked, the owner said the Powers sign was put up thirty years ago, and no-one's got around to taking it down. The local fire engine is an orange 2.8litre Hilux named Ernest, which has seen better days. They charge $3 per shower, and $4 a stubby, which is excellent value.
We noticed that Albion St, which is parallel to the main drag, has all the hardware, electrical, grocery and takeaway stores you could shake a stick at, as well as Centrelink and Queensland Transport. Found out that if a pensioner has only one vehicle a backdated refund can be claimed. The Talvor's rego for a year worked out at around $420, which is a very nice Xmas present indeed.

Re: Alan's pub
We've camped there a couple of times. I refer to it as Sandy Creek pub but I notice it says Darling Downs Hotel on the facade.

We've managed to avoid the go-carts both times. The pub does a good, reasonably priced evening meal as well.
