I asked her a while back if she would ever go back to Mac, she just laughed.
Personally I switched to Apple after Vista.

For my work it was irrelevant what the Os was but the office used XP, cause all my work was done with MVS JCL and SQL.

I got tired of reloading Vista and its predecessors so I'm happy with Apple which is unix based anyhow.

comparing Mac with what they were doing 20 years ago does not work... Microsoft has lost its lead because it has had so many problems..

Currently Apple has the lead. It may not always be that way but whilst they are so advanced with their technology I am more than happy to broadcast my excitement about their superior product.

I avoided changing over from PC to Mac for the reasons given by others but changed out of sheer frustration after XP.... I am now like a reformed smoker, a pain in the butt to those who still smoke....

I promise to be quiet now

never seen an fruity person using the Unix interface they all use the GUI and nothing but. I know a lot of windows people only use the GUI but there is an option if needed.

I worked with UNIX for many years in my work and found it was ultra stable. Had a server going for 9 months with no reboot etc. only turned off to move the server room to a different location on the plant.

Windows server was rebooted every weekend, if missed it failed before Wednesday never fail. Old Boss found out after I left when he did not get a replacement in time and on the Wednesday the whole plant went down. Spent two days trying to get someone to fix it. My new employer had to send a tech down by plane for a day to press button A. Revenge is sweet.

I still use a windows machine as much of the software I use is for windows and cant be bothered changing over.

We had APPLE for the publishing side of one company I worked for and they had stacks of hard drives to hold their data.

There are lots of stuff that Apple cant handle unless they are rebooted to a windows format and perhaps they have a module now to change whilst connected but I have refused to worry about computers now, I use mine to do my photos and I due my spreadsheets etc for finances and POI files and to access the forums.

We is all different , that's what makes the world go round.

Brian

Thanks Homeless...

so many people with a variety of experiences. Thanks goodness computing has improved from the early commodore days when learning some basic programming was of enormous benefit.

I just want to check email and search the web these days and let the system take care of the nasties that lurk out there and thats exactly what my 3 apple systems do. The IPad doesn't quite do everything I need from a laptop when I travel but it comes very close.

The old days when a Vodafone usb stick would get you a lousy reception and be very expensive for simple emails are also behind us now. The WIFI Telstra dongle which allows both our computers to connect at the same time at a great speed is also a huge jump into cheap and efficient technology. I look forward with excitement to ongoing advances in technology.
