What has happened to common courtesy?
Just feeling the need to vent a bit. Recently I have received three requests for information, one by email requesting a reference for our house sitters last year, one from CF from someone we know and recently met up with again requesting Lithium information and a private manage on Facebook from a "friend" also requesting Lithium information. In all cases I responded in a timely way with detailed information (no, I didn't give away any secrets, Terry!) and did I receive a thank you from anyone? No, nein, nyet, nada! Am I a bit p***ed off about the time I took to reply? You bet! In future, if anyone wants to pick my brains (which admittedly don't have a lot to offer) I will think twice! Hrrmpf! End of rant!
Re: What has happened to common courtesy?
I would just ignore the requests.
They will get sick of it before you.
Bernie.

I appreciate what you are saying Bernie but I try to live my life by the "Do unto others...." mantra. Unfortunately, sometimes (well, most times lately) it seems that I am alone in the wilderness....perhaps I am naive (some would say stupid!) but there you go. **sigh**

Lesley get used it, this treatment it is just too common these days. No manners. These days I give people one chance and that's it. Been kicked in the guts a few times so now I do the Mrs Brown quote "Dats Nice now Fek off"

Queen of the Banal & OT chatter and proud of it. If it offends you then tough titty titty bang bang.

Re: What has happened to common courtesy?
Unfortunately common courtesy isn't very common these days.
Every time I phone someone, I always ask if it is convenient to talk on the phone right now. By asking this question, as a phone call is always intrusive, you would be amazed how many times it isn't convenient at that time and if not, I then ask what time may be better. People are very appreciative of the courtesy.
Talking about phone courtesy, when my children were teenagers, I got sick and tired of the lack of courtesy on the phone. I told my kids from now on I expected a modicum of good manners on the phone. Such as "Good morning Mr pelbo. how are you? This is Fred Blogs. Would Lisa be available please?"
But all I normally got was, "Is Lisa there?"
My reply: "Yes she is". Then I would hang up.
They got the message pretty quickly after that!

I even said "thank you" to our hosts today
Treat people as you would expect to be treated, if they are feral and do not reciprocate they are not worth the effort.

Well, I can understand what you say, Pelbo but this was all remote i.e.by email or PM so, I don't think we can extend that olive branch.

Am surprised that even among professionals phone introduction is dead.
Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.
