"tanks" NEW CAR FREEZER/FRIDGE

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

"tanks" NEW CAR FREEZER/FRIDGE

Post by Keith Morris »

“tanks” here--- MAKE A CUPPA-SIT BACK AND RELAX BEFORE YOU START READING:--

BACKGROUND
This is a report on the NEW CAR FREEZER I purchased on e-Bay to take on the trip up to the 40 MILE BEACH CAMPING AREA, and then later to go to the get together at CLEAVERVILLE, both places near Karratha WA, a one way drive of some 1,500 km.
All of this activity is to escape the cold Winter nights in the Central Wheatbelt, and enjoy the warm days and nights, the company of several other FORUM MEMBERS ,and what the Pilbara District offers to the tourist on a low budget. Each of the Shire Camp Site fees are $150 per month with a maximum stay of 3 months, and this will cover me for my Great Winter Escape.
To do this in relative comfort and enjoy the contentment of having Ice Cream and Tropical Weis Bars available, I have decided to purchase a car freezer. I have a 12 volt 130 litre Vitrofrig in the Sprinter, however the freezer is too narrow to hold a 2 litre tub of ice cream, without messy decanting into smaller packs. The alternative is the Car (Wayco/Engel) style Freezer which will hold a good supply of the necessary creature comforts:---frozen food for “Russell” my pet/ watchdog/ guard dog/ and loyal companion; together with steak, and pre-cooked frozen meals for myself, enough for about 1 month at a time.
ACTION STATIONS-
Check the budget and find out what is available and what I can afford as I survive on an Age Pension. My first move was to look at the cost of a few of the recognised brands available on the R.V. market.
Wayco and Engle came to mind however the cost at around $ 1,500 for a 55 litre fridge/freezer was out of my available resources, would break the budget, and leave nothing for diesel fuel at around $1.70 plus per litre. I could buy a Wayco and sit in the back yard, but this would defeat the purpose of the Great Winter Escape.
“Russell” and I held a committee meeting and decided to have a look at e-Bay for an alternative to overcome the restricted financial situation. I found a remarkable unit being offered for $399.00 with free Courier delivery to my residence. This sounded too good to be true, and would solve all of my concerns on how to carry enough frozen food for the period away from Supermarkets while camped in a remote area.
Rather than rush in and buy a pig-in-a-poke thing, I sent a p/m. message to a bloke [well known on this Forum] who has respected knowledge of all things; pleading for his guidance before I made the purchase. I received an almost immediate reply from him informing me of what battery durability, recharging, solar panel activity, and generator alternative power I would require to have the unit function and perform while I am at the campsites. He also was able to guide me on suitability of the freezer/fridge and the Supplier of the unit, from his previous interaction with the Company.
THE BIG PURCHASE:-
I have now purchased 2014 year model new 55 litre Dual action 12 v/24v/240v Compressor type Fridge/Freezer [made by Cenco], branded MISHTO Brand, which weighs 19 kg, can fit between the 2 single beds in the house part of the Sprinter., where it will be out of the way and does not restrict the foot space between the single beds. Also an added advantage is that I can use the top of the unit as a coffee table while I am wineing, dineing, reclining, and watching TV when I am not at ‘Happy Hour’ with other Forum Members or attending Dots’ Great Shave for her charity group. ---Free plug there for you Dot !
The Freezer was consigned within 24 hours by the e-Bay seller, bit_deals , with tracking number supplied, and it is scheduled to arrive at my place next week. (at another site I think I have to include a disclaimer that I have no interest in the Company selling the item).
WATCH THIS SPACE FOR CONTINUED REPORTS AS I PLAY WITH MY NEW FREEZER and try it out BEFORE I HIT THE ROAD ON THE “GREAT WINTER ESCAPE”
“tanks”.

PS: BIT_DEALS ALSO MARKET (along with other models) A 65 LITRE UNIT FOR $430 / FREE COURIER DELIVERY
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Excellent report of all the action.
Will you be playing "greensleeves" or singing the "icecream man" while freely dispensing said frozen confectionary?

"tanks" here---Dot
I sound like a ruptured dog barking when I sing and I can't whistle without my teeth in, so you are safe.
Besides, I will have a mouthfull of Weis Bar, so maybe not a lot of talking either 'till I work out you lot.
