NO UNREAD POSTS--Whats' "tanks" doing ?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

NO UNREAD POSTS--Whats' "tanks" doing ?

Post by Keith Morris »

"tanks" here---
So, it is Friday night and the Forum is so quiet I guess that you are all in bed.
It is only 7:00pm in the West and "Russell" is watching the ABC News on the TV.
The "free-loaders" left about 30 minutes ago after Happy Hour; which turned out to be a 3 hour Happy Hour.
I was having Saturday today and this is a result of having too many Nanna-Naps on the same day. Each time you wake up you think it's another day already. Sometimes I don't know if I am a week ahead or a week behind !

I am in the process of cooking something for tea. Tonight I am making/having toasted ham/tomato/Bega Cheese sandwiches.
I am just waiting for the smoke alarm to tell me that they are ready ! That's how the experienced cooks do it.

Public Holiday over here in the West----NO AFL - NO NUFFIN on TV WORTH WATCHING, so it's an early night in bed, or sit up with "Russell" while ha chases cats from the back yard.

I miss you all -----I hope you make contact and post something interesting on the Forum to let me know what you are/have been doing. The smoke alarm is making a noise like the "Indian Pacific" which indicates that the toasted offerings are ready,so I best attend to that : while I am thinking of you all, being snug in your [own] beds, after your night activities.
Keith.

WOW==a 1942 Jeep. I hope you didn't paint it purple. When I was in service we towed the 6 pdr & 17 pdr Anti-Tank Guns with Jeeps. They were very hard to get bogged; either in loose sand or mud. Then we were issued with the British Austin Champ which was as easy as falling off a log on a dark night when you were pissed on picket duty. That was back around 1955-6 when I was in uniform ; a dashing young buck looking for a -F-----------------frightfully good time.

by the way the nomclaimature "GPW" stands for General Purpose-War.
Like the Harley-Davidson motorcycles (WLA= War Limited Action) they were made for a few operations under Battle Conditions; and many of them are still running today, being maintained in good running condition by enthusiasts.

I am still awating the delivery of the Freezer --Easter mail delivery is slow out here. When the freezer arrives I will be filling it with Weis Bars and 2 litre tubs of Ice Cream and putting it through its paces. I have 10 packets of Weis bars x 4 per pkt and 4 x 2 litre tubs of Bulla Ice Cream, so I hope it works or I'll be eating Ice Cream till I look like a frozen stiff.

If they are short of a driver for a Ferret, a Saracen, or a Saladin Armoured Car, I regret that I can't be there. I could even assist with a Staghound or a White Armoured Car but that was long ago in the 1950's era. Do they put on a display for the public or just go for a drive around and a get together looking at each other's things. Over herw in the West of the Island a bloke has 3 Centurion Tanks and he offers rides to members of the public ---for a fee. He also has M-113's for those of the public who don't want to go Big-Time but still want a thrill. Several of the "Old & Bold" help with maintenance of the vehicles which are located on a property in Toodjay WA, a short distance from Perth.
Keith.

Dirk:- I have difficulty with the Nuts without putting my teeth in, so I prefer the Fruito and the Mango bars.

Last month we attended Corowa N.S.W. An event that has been going 34years for military vehicles. Had 206 vehicles for the parade, some 29 GPW jeeps and a few less Willys MB...
Will post a pic of my GPW. I also have 3 1942 willys mb at home, one of which i have had 40years ,all registered and on the road.
The GPW has recently been fully restored has only done 800 miles since.
Dont want to waffle on too much.Breakfast is on the BBQ.
Cheers
