Board Cookies

At the bottom of the page there is a blue line going across the page with the words -- Delete all Board Cookies.
Could somebody please tell me what are board cookies and if I should delete them -- and more so:- If I have any of them, how do I know, do I want them or need them, and where do I find them if I do have them.
Please make allowances for me as I am expanding my limited knowledge of the computer thing. (I've only recently discovered Blogs).

Cookies are good. Especially the chocolate ones!!!
Over the years there has been a lot of scaremongering over cookies and what damage they cause.
On a private personal computer it is by far better to allow cookies.
Cookies are used to store (computer to remember) some details.
The most common thing stored in a cookie is your log in details.
So one of the first things you can try if you have trouble logging on is to delete your cookie & sign in with a fresh entry.
Cookies can also store things like your preferences in a search engine or even things like your location in Weatherzone.com.
Up the top of the board is a link to FAQ's that will help answer a lot of questions often asked.

WOW ! a whole new world for me to explore. I found Cookies and Stickies and a lot of other things to play around with. I may even end up as an Expert computer operator, but this will be after I have finished learning to Mig Weld, and fabricate trailer tarpaulins.
