"tanks" here---
The label on the Ice Cream I have reads STORE AT (-)18 or below.
I am sure that refers to a storage period longer than my 2 litre tub has to endure.
Wot; with thick shakes, mango and/or peaches and ice cream, or just a double scoop on a cone the 2 tub doesn't last any more than 1 week - hardly classified as STORAGE.
When I buy a tub from the Supermarket it is HELD at a much warmer temp than (-)18c.

MANGO SMOOTHIE RECIPE:-
Take the two cheeks from a slightly over ripe Bowen mango - or other variety except the old turpentine variety, add to large scoops of ice cream, add 150 mil fresh thickened cream, and top up with a little fresh full cream milk [ UHT is OK to use if you can't find the Cow], whiz in a blender for a few minutes 'till thick and well combined, and then drink. If it is Winter; go and sit in front of the fire while watching ABC TV Channel 2 or Channel 24. In Summer don't waste time washing the Stick Blender because you will soon be returning to the kitchen to mix another one. To hell with the diet---enjoy it.

On Wednesday Nights try Mrs Browns Boys on a different TV Channel, but add a little Liouour- Frangelico [aprox $30/700ml bottle] to the mixture, which gives a slight Hazelnut trace to the end result, and this addition compliments the Mango flavour. Even a little very fine-ground Nutmeg sprinkled on top of the mix after using the Stick Blender adds to the taste.

If all of this fails to to stimulate your taste buds; have a Fruito Weis Bar, but in Winter wear wool gloves. In Summer; eat two Fruito Weis Bars !. Life was meant to be enjoyed after you get past the 75 year mark. Even with this rich mixture I have still lost 11 kg in the past 6 weeks, so I don't have to worry about a diet to loose weight---quiet the opposite; I am trying to gain weight. The alternative is not to get on the bathroom scales.

"tanks" here---
The 240 volt part passed with flying colours with Corned Beef, Weis Bars, a 2 litre tub of Ice Cream, and a nice lot of Fillet Steak [saves the chewing and the teeth] all sliced and ready for the BBQ.

NOW for the 12 volt test running the freezer in the Sprinter
I will be working off the 2 x 100 ah Deep Cycle batteries and the 120 amp folding Solar panel.

There is very little sunlight out where I am, so I will have to keep an eye on the Zantac thing about every hour during daylight hours for a day or two. I know that I can't take the batteries down too low. Been there - Done that !

Whatever the result, I will only check the thing during day time as it is too b*** cold in the late afternoon/night time.
I will hook up to the 240 charger if the reading goes too low. If I get a reading on the Zantac Monitor below about 11.8 volts at any time, it's on with the land line and the 40 amp 3 stage charger; and wish I could afford a Lithium setup.

Already I am very-very-pleased with the unit, and I'm thinking of buying another for $399 so as I can have more Weis Bars and Ice Cream to have on/for the Cleaverville Trip.
KEEP WATCHING THIS SPACE.
Keith.

11.8v is a bit low Keith. 12v with a load on the batteries might be a better way to go. Does your xantrac give you a % of battery power remaining?

"tanks" here---Craig, Thanks for the tip about the voltage level.
The ZANTREX Battery Monitor tells me:
1. present volts: like 13.9v when I just read it. It is 5:00am, no sun so no solar, no 240 v charger connected.
2. present amps being used eg:
(-)6.2 amps [ I just turned the house fridge and a few fluro lights on to obtain that reading].
3. total (-) amps used in this period, which can be reset to zero for the start of a new period.
**I think that this Total Reading may change up or down, if any charge is put back into the battery bank,
but I am not sure on that. It's an electronic thing Craig, and like my computer it frightens me to play around with it and push too many buttons that I don't know how to work; or what the result of my actions will be.

4. It tells me the % full, if I press another (arrow) button --I can do that without fear.
5. If I push another button it reads: nn.nn. a/h remaining.
6. And yet another push on the button tells me: hrs/min. I don't know if this indicates how many hours/min I have used, or how many hours/min I have left to use; so I don't push that setting very often.
All of the above readings are viewed by pushing the (L) or (R) arrow buttons.

There is a button between the L & R Arrow buttons that turns on a light to illuminate the reading. I found out that if I push BOTH the L & R buttons together on the Monitor panel for a few seconds the readings all change.
The display has 5 bars [-- -- -- -- --] at the top of the display when the battery bank is full, and the number of bars decreases as the battery bank is used without any charge going in. That is the limit of my knowledge of the thing.
It is a 2000 year model and I am unable to find an owners book about it.
It is able to be reset with temp warnings and low battery alarms and about 15 other settings can be adjusted to individual levels--but hey ! This is way beyond me, so I don't play around. There are 3 or 4 updated models available but the cost is beyond my budget.
Mainly I just leave the monitor reading on Battery Volts and use that as a guide. If it reads [say] 12 volts, I start the generator or plug into the 240 charger until it reads around 13.9 or 14 volts.

I don't know what key on the computer I pressed but most of what I posted didn't come out so here is another attempt:-
I will post this now before I stuff it up again.
Keith

"tanks" here---
I purchased from e-Bay seller: bit-deals. They have several sizes available the $55 litre was $ 399 with free courier delivery, I think the 60 or 65 litre was around $ 430 with free delivery.

Check out this lead on e-bay for prices, sizes, specs etc.
I would highly recommend this seller based on my dealings with them. I went for the BUY NOW price.
I noticed that other buyers on the Auction part and BidNow section of e-Bay ended up paying a lot more than the buy-now price. You know what people are like at Auctions--- Also some of the other sellers wanted to charge freight !!!

Is this the monitor you have Keith?

http://www.xantrex.com/power-products/p ... nitor.aspx

you will find a link to the manual on that page. Synchronizing it by pushing the outer buttons should be done from time to time and should be done when the battery bank is full. This feature simply synchronizes the monitor to the battery bank. The right hand button will tell you the % remaining. The quick start guide in that link will show you how to set it up as there are a few settings that need to be correct (like battery bank capacity) for the unit to function correctly?

"tanks" here ---CRAIG,
Thanks for that, I have looked at that site,
That is the "LINK-PRO" model. There has been a few more improved models since that Link-Pro unit.
My unit is about 3 models before that one. Lindsay Morris [no relation, just good friends] who posts on AMH Forum as "Kakado90" set my thing up for me some time ago, with battery type and capacity etc. We contacted the maker about 1 year ago and they said the unit which I have was a superceeded and they did not support it any more as far as owners manuals etc, and encouraged me to buy the latest model. NOT VERY MUCH HELP THERE>

Lindsay also adjusted the 240 volt charger unit to suit my battery bank.

Good stuff. So the only thing that you have to worry about is Synchronizing it every so often.
