Replacing Shurflo water pump.

Post by Chuck »

Want to change the current Shurflo (noisy) pump & considering the new Shurflo 4009 model that CaravansPlus say is "Super Quiet"... $149.

Anyone with first hand knowledge of this?

I do realise that different mounting options can make a difference to the noise being transmitted, but the location of our current pump is in a very small cupboard under the oven. It will be done by someone who knows what they are doing!

"tanks"here Chuck:----
As the pump will be in a cupboard I assume that the cupboard has a door ?
Why not just get a few squares of the stuff that is used as insulation and soundproofing in and under car seats etc.
It is sticky-backed with a 3M product. It will soundproof the cupboard ---------End of transmitted Noise problem !!!

I bought one last year and it is very quiet. I did not mount it in the MH though. It is mounted in the car as I use it for my flexi water tank. I paid about $100 for it as a show special. Award rv have for $118

There are a couple of things you can do to quieten your old pump. The first thing to do is check that it is fitted IAW the manufacturer's specs. Most of the time they are not fitted with the proper high pressure flexible hose on both the inlet and outlet side of the pump. The manufacturer states not to fit directly to plastic or rigid pipe or the pumps normal motion will transmit through the rigid pipe causing noise.
I thought it worth checking. Even if you do decide on a new one make sure they fit it as per the instructions.
