Access door.

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Access door.

Post by Kelvin12 »

G'Day all,

Trying to find a white plastic access door about 100 X 100. The one I am looking for has the hinge on the right hand side with a key lock and a small plaque on it saying something about water.... I am not up at the bus at the moment and can't remember the exact working. Inside it has a small plastic screw on cap. There were plenty around a few months ago but seem to have become rare for some reason. This is a link to the larger door that its almost identical except for the size. http://www.motocorv.com.au/store/plasti ... ccess-door Reason I need one is I stuffed the original and haven't heard the last of it..... Tried the supplier that I can think of but no good.

Dirk I doubt if you'll get a door separately unless you ask CabCar or some wrecking place.
Are you on the caravanners forum?
There was the mangled remains of a caravan in a yard at Kingston that I'll check on once I get home. Could be a week or two though.
If it's essential to keep your grandkids from pouring mud into it then I'd be grabbing the complete thing. Not easy changing over unless you have good access from within though!!
Good luck!

G'Day Bruce,

No its only the door I am after, the plastic outer bit. I cut the guts out of it then added a small steel box to the insides. Its actually a cover for the BBQ gas outlet hose up front on the bus. I cut to much out of the backing and now can't lock it. Of course I didn't find this out until it was all glued into place.

These were around for ages and almost everyone had them but looks like the supply has dried up for some reason.

Tried Caravans Plus, they are my first go to supplier as a rule.

I have one on our bus for the water inlet as shown below. Dimensions 195 x 165. If that is what you are after i will check at the couple of places that I may have purchased it.

G'Day George,

Similar but to big. The one I am looking for is about 100 X 100 and hinge is on the other side. Thanks for the interest though.

Provided the size is OK (are you limited by surroundings/panel shape??), the hinge on the wrong side is no prob: mount it upside-down! :D

G'Day Ray,

No got limitations on the width of the side panel. I have bodged it up with a little bit of sheet metal for the striker plate and is looking alright. Might have to go with this until they come back on the market. Then again this bodged bit looks OK and not real obvious so it might be the final job.

Put up a photo and we'll tell you if it's good enough. :)

Of course its good enough.....Lol. I'll make a point of it when I post the photos of the finished product. Dot has been nagging me for ages now about putting up some photos so will make sure I highlight this particular point. Actually I should have payed more close attention to what I was cutting out then I wouldn't have had this problem to begin with. What's that saying measure twice and cut.....
